    Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'm still debating if this is something I want. I love Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. In fact, I'm still playing Ac to finish off the Riddler trophies after putting it down for a bit.

I like the open world idea of Spider-Man, I'm just not sure if $60 is worth it for this game...

Digging it so far, I think it would have been better if the combat system had a bit more depth to it rather than just one button mashing autocombos but slinging around the city as the ol web head is fun.

I don't know, I'm not upset I paid full price for it. It's not a visual masterpiece by any means but considering it's rendering a full city pretty much I'm ok with that. Indoor environments could be better. Granted I'm still only a few hours in, but if nothing else the game is very fun. Which to me is what is most important.

My save file got corrupted. It seems to be a common issue with no fix by using google search.

I booted up the game and everything was fine. I looked at the extras section and read a few bios and then backed out. After backing out I hit the O button an extra time and it brought me back to the press start to continue screen. When I pressed start the continue game option was missing. My save file is still there but it says the last update on it was around the time it stopped working. It seems like the game overwrote a blank save on my file.

I was enjoying the game. The open world side missions so far were kind of boring (beat up 1 thug) but maybe they get better. I liked reading the faux twitter updates on citizens thoughts after completing missions.

Tried to buy this today at EB but they were sold out, which was surprising.

The fact the web-swinging isn't as good as it was in Spider-Man 2 kind of bothers me, but it's a nitpick on my part and I'm still kind of jonesing to play it, especially after seeing the movie.

                Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

So I figured I would use some Amazon credits and get this game. I never played any other Spider-man game because they never got good reviews. It seems like "Arkham City Jr." but that's not a bad thing.

The combat is smooth. My first combat scenario with a large group resulted in a 43x combo because the combat is just like Arkham City. I hate that there's a "web retreat" option so you can refill your health, but I just refuse to use it.

I'm only a few Chapters in and I didn't see the movie, but you can figure out what happened after the first scene.

I really have enjoyed this game so far. I don't have high expectations of it much like I didn't when Arkham Asylum came out, which may actually enhance my enjoyment of this game.

Bought this last year, but never got around to playing it. Popped it into today to play yesterday and have been hooked since. What a pleasant surprise and easily the best Spider-man game I have ever played. Swinging around the city is smooth with plenty of movement and flips, the fighting is fairly well done (thought not as dynamic as I would have liked), and the voice over work is top notch. Decent story though I've lost count of how many outbreaks I've now solved/prevented in my game playing career. Love the side missions / activities, though a bit repetitive and the there's no excuse for using the exact same car in every single car chase event. Weird to see such laziness there and such attention to detail on the Spider-man suit(s).

Word to the wise... DO NOT change your uniform until you've beaten the game. I made the mistake of changing into one of the unis I found before fighting the Lizard. Apparently there's a bug where after you beat the Lizard and your not wearing the default uniform then your game hangs on a load screen and never loads the game back to the apartment where you can go back out into the city and complete sidequests etc.

Activision's cash-grabbing a$$ never patched it, and I haven't played it since...unwilling to fork over more time to complete what I've already done.

I changed my uniform several times, and there was something weird at the end. When I was about to defeat the lizard, it went to a cutscene and played the end credits, and then went to the apartment with Gwen. After the credits played, it took me back to the part where I had to fight the lizard again (for a complete 2nd time). This time it allowed me to beat him properly and I the end credits / apartment with gwen came up a second time.

The PC port is also incredibly unoptimized. You could have a beast of a system and it'd still run like crap without a pretty inconvenient workaround.
