    Skyrim easily.

This is one of those games you will be playing a long time before you play anything else.

Thats a very good point, I have had Mass Effect 1 and 2 sitting in my collection for about 4 months, Picked them up cheap but haven't played them yet because i have never played an RPG so i am not sure what to expect.

Its this very reason that i am not sure whether Skyrim would be a good buy for me. The Batman series are my favourite games ever though so i still say get Arkham City and wait till Skyrim comes down in price.

Absolutely love the batman game. I don't normally play games like Skyrim. Skyrim has made be stop playing batman and MW3.

          Skyrim.

          Why?.....Complete and utter awesomeness.

Here is something that doesn't happen often lately as far as gaming goes for me.
I'm still a relatively low level(I just hit 11) Nord that uses heavy armor/sword/shield....and some magic. I have only three spells....but I just gained dual wield and put two of them "on". I had my sidekick(Lydia...she kicks a$$) as my up and close fighter and went up against a giant(who had kicked my butt earlier in the game with just a couple of swipes)......dual flamed him from a bit aways.....Lydia went chop/chop......I then used BattleCry to make him run(for 30 seconds) following him with my dual flame(and some magicka potions to keep it going)....I was just about to use my Shout to put him over the cliff when Lydia gave him the final death blow.
We were really outmatched, but this game, if you think of a decent strategy, really gives you the chance to overcome some big odds.
With most games it's either you can win outright, cheat in some way(an exploit) or you just get plain lucky.
Not so with Skyrim(not saying some of that doesn't happen....it's just a rewarding game IMO)

I agree but it's one of those things where when you discover it and understand it, you never go back. Before you understand it, you'll think it's a waste of money, afterwards you'll say it's an awesome genre.

This might not be worth anything, but all my friends and girlfriend have this game. Some of them never liked RPG's but they are really into this one.

Skyrim by a large margin. Batman is an excellent game, but like others have said, it isn't overly long and unless you're a completionist you won't get a lot of replay value out of it. Skyrim, on the other hand, is a massive experience that's in the Best Game of All Time discussion.

Skyrim is an experience you must have.

I'm going to play Batman at some point, it looks and sounds like a really great game but I can't imagine picking anything over Skyrim right now.

Yep. Both are legendary games and must owns.

But like many have stated. Skyrim will own your soul. The game is like crack. I can't put it down.

                      It depends what you want

Arkham City is the definitive Batman experience. I enjoyed it from beginning to end...but Skyrim gives you a ****load of game with customization out the wazoo. I have been playing mostly as a warrior and 12 hours in I decided I wanted to be more of a spellsword and that switch is possible. Now I burn peeps and then finish them off with my sword. Skyrim is a fantasy sandbox like no other. PLUS you can be linear with quests if you want.

Heck after playing Skyrim the new Zelda seemed as interesting to me as Once Upon A MOnster.

BTW the idea of both is an excellent one. It IS christmas after all.

Definately go with Skyrim. It is a much better game and you will get more out of it than you would Batman.

It depends on what sort of game experience you're looking for. Batman is more close-ended, you get from encounter to encounter quicker, there's less downtime. Skyrim is much more open-ended, so there's more opportunity to screw around for three hours and not (from the standpoint of game advancement) accomplish much. So if you game in small chunks or are specifically a fan of Batman, I'd probably go Arkham City, but as an overall game, Skyrim is loaded to the gills.

If you want Batman you should start with Arkham Asylum, so I would recommend Skyrim.
