South Park: The Stick of Truth

If it's short, I'm okay with it because I always plan to finish games as quickly as I can and sell them for most of my money back.

I'll enjoy the experience no matter the length. If it's 15 hours at most, I'll be done in a week or two and consider it the best season I ever watched.

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

That's why I'm now on the fence between a purchase, or simply seeing if it appears at Redbox and just getting a few days worth of gaming out of it and saving myself $70. (I've pre-ordered the GW version.)

For me, I'm an achievement hunter. So I'll wind up playing through the whole thing a couple of times, anyway. That's 30 hours, which I'm fine with.

It looks fun and I guess all the characters you can be adds replay value.

Re: South Park: The Stick of Truth

To be fair, a 15 hour game would equal about 35 controllable episodes worth of South Park material, or almost two full seasons of the show.

I think people expecting more than that set themselves up for disappointment. This isn't supposed to be Skyrim with 100+ hours worth of playtime, and I'm happy about that. There shouldn't be anywhere near the annoying amount of repetitive lines and comments and scenarios and all of that.

Hilariously, I think that companies putting a strict embargo up until the game is released works against them. Journalists lose out on viewership, and sometimes take it out on the game.

It's less than 2 new seasons on Blu-Ray. I wonder if the main quest line is that short or is that including all side quests and collectables.

I agree. While I can accept that the positives of an embargo mean it gives all reviewers a chance to play and review the game without having to race through it to be the first site to put up a review. But, it can also have the effect especially if the game is a massive turd (Aliens Colonial Marines) of people taking out their frustration on gaming journalism for having pre-ordered and paid for a game that gets completely panned.

To which people in the gaming journalism industry just say "Well, you shouldn't pre-order games and just wait for reviews anyway."

From what I've been seeing it's about 15 hours including all of that. I also saw a post where someone mostly did the story and finished the game in a little over 10 hours. I suppose we'll know more as more people get their hands on the game.

I'm picking it up for sure. I no longer read anything reviewers write. After I watched a guy on IGN give Gears Judgment a 9.2, I wrote those "journalists" off. Usually I wait until the honeymoon stage is over here at OS with a lot of games.

This one had me laughing during the 13 minute intro and since I rarely buy release day games, I'm okay with this purchase.

I agree. I am also reading people who have played the game really enjoy it, yet I saw the mention of waiting for reviews before buying.

I might be a bit hesitant if I wasn't getting it for $48 plus $10 back from Best Buy.

15 hours seems solid for me considering if it's as good as it seems it'll get at least 2 play throughs to try another class.
