I think quite the opposite, this seems right up there with Simpson's GTA (Hit & Run). It's much better than the lame generic platformer that never really works for very long. Maybe it's just me but running around South Park talking to characters, exploring, etc sounds like a blast.

Game Informer has a video interview about the combat.

Good Times With Weapons: The Combat of South Park

Combine Obsidian Entertainment's extensive knowledge of RPG design with the personal gaming tastes of South Park's Matt Stone and Trey Parker and you end up with the combat mechanics of South Park: The Game. Taking cues from the Paper Mario series, the combat is a turn-based exercise that depends largely on the player's active and precise participation. Matt MacLean is the lead designer on the game and he sat down with us to talk about the tone of the overall game, the mechanics of combat, and what the South Park RPG has learned from Final Fantasy 7. Check out the video below.

just having Cartman help you pick a character class is worth $60!

This game is gonna be hilarious!

              I hope...

I'm admittedly intrigued, but it could be a bare bones level grinding mess that sucks, save for the South Park voices and license.

I won't buy it immediately, but I'll do some browsing and research and if It seems to be doing well, I'll def. shell out the money for it..

Otherwise, I'll just rent it and see

                I just hope it's a success...

I was more excited until they started comparing it to Paper Mario.

Then fifth unannounced class was announced to be .... Jew. It's apparently a Paladin type class where as your HP goes down, you get stronger so when you're at 1 HP, you're as strong as you can be.
