I would agree with this. I wonder if we'll see a game like this or Uncharted on the PS4 that isn't somewhat linear.

I'm completely avoiding the demo and will probably stop reading this thread until way after the game comes out.

My gaming as changed in recent years and I so look forward to a game like this that I can get totally lost in...zombies/humans/wild dogs (re: Far Cry 3)/whatever.

Doing the same. Reading comments here and there but avoiding anything that covers the actual story or game.

i hope i didnt ruin anything for you guys. thats why i avoided mentioning anything about the story and was just describing how some enemies vary their approach and the things they say in combat.

yeah everything Blzer said is on point. the real Variances and fun comes from when your fighting actual regular bad guys and/or Military guys not the Infected/zombie people. they attack you in different ways depending on what you do.

for example, there was this one area where a bunch of Military guys jump over this wall and start coming after you shooting and stuff. so at first i chose to stay behind this one piece of cover and shoot them down 1 by 1.
i killed about 4 or 5 guys and im feeling good. then one of guys yelled,

"he's a sitting duck, Flank his ***!"

so now the guys spread out to my left and right. im like "awww ****!" a minute later i die from a bullet to the back of the head.

so i decide to try the same thing again. this time i hear,

"someone get that m********er!"

next thing you know, im getting grenades thrown at me on top of them flanking me. i die 3 straight times.

ok, so now i know i need to do something different. i HAVE to move around. so i decide im gonna get aggressive. so now i start moving from cover to cover after every couple kills. i even sneak up behind a couple and kill them with a weapon (it was either a stick or a pipe, i cant remember). so now im getting the best of them. there almost all dead except for one guy. well, he has plans for me as i hear him say,

"its not over you son of a bitch!"

and as i look 6-7 more guys jump over the wall. one of them even has a RPG/grenade launcher (i cant remember which one it exactly was). so they start to flank me. i go into my knapsack and create a med-kit to replenish my health and create a bomb. i stayed behind one piece of cover and eventually i killed them all with my gun. "Finally!" i say to myself. so i start to look around on where to go next. then i hear,

"Gotcha Bitch!"

im hit in the back of the head with a pipe. im dead. apparently i didnt kill all of them. one of them got behind me and hid when i was messing with my knapsack. i thought that was really cool and easily some of the smartest A.I. enemies i ever faced in a game.

i even yelled out a loud OH **** when i heard the guy behind me. i even talked with the other testers that was there with me who played through that area and none of them had that happen to them.

That sounds ****ing awesome!!! Guess I really don't care how linear the game is.

I wish I hadn't read that lil' exchange. I didn't know there were other enemies besides infected and scavengers. A lil' spoilerific for my tastes.

Also that whole exchange sounds too awesome to believe, I would've been floored if I hadn't seen it coming.

I can tell this is a game I wanna go in more blind than I am. So I might just close myself off to this whole thread...should've been did that actually.

Game sounds like it'll be an All-Timer just like Red Dead Redemption, Ocarina of Time, or Shadow of the Colossus.

I wonder if I pick up GoW from Redbox if I would be able to download the demo? There is no voucher, just need the disk, so I would think it would work.

Yeah. I just rented GoW Ascension from Redbox, I should be able to download the demo. I just couldn't resist. I figured I would end up having it spoiled if not.

There are no codes, the game disc is the 'code' - the TLoU demo is what they call a disc benefit, which you add (activate) to your psn account and unlocks the demo in the PS store for download. So he should be able to redeem the disc benefit when the demo becomes available. Unless they send special disc to kiosk, which I don't think so, especially if he sees the menu link on his rental disc.
