Re: The Last of Us (PS3)

So I don't want to read spoilers, but I do want to read thoughts on the demo. Anyone play it and find themselves happier or disgusted by the gameplay?
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

^ The game is going to be really cool, you'll be utilizing the things in your environment frequently. The game will have a good bit of challenge in completing it it seems. Very glad I downloaded the demo. Like y'all I pretty much avoided any and all info about the game so that it would just wow me with its awesomeness, and yet I'd still recommend downloading the demo if you can. They did a great job of knowing exactly when to end the demo, and the bit you play will wet your appetite for the game more than anything else.

          couldn't hold out any longer...lol
went to my local redbox and picked up GOW....demo is downloading now..

One question though...is it a timed demo? in other words,is there a little timer in the corner somewhere that will only let you pay for so long?

I hope not,as I would like to explore some if possible. I'm sure it's going to make the wait drag on...but I couldn't hold out...lol

I never saw a timer. I'm pretty sure you just play until this one point and then it ends

                  Season pass details as well......

                  Day 1 Bonuses
                  • Increased Crafting Speed
                  • Increased Healing Speed
                  • 9mm Reload Speed Upgrade
                  • Rifle Clip Capacity Upgrade
                  • Grounded – exclusive 90min “Making of The Last of Us” documentary

These Day 1 bonuses will help you get a head start and an edge in Joel and Ellie’s struggle to survive through the single player campaign of The Last of Us. The documentary, Grounded, is an in-depth look at the making of The Last of Us throughout its development by Area 5.

For the first time ever we’ll be offering single player DLC. The journey and cast of characters in The Last of Us lends itself to thorough narrative exploration and we’ve got more of the story to tell. The two other DLC packs will feature multiplayer content in the form of additional multiplayer maps and other expansions. You’ll be hearing about our multiplayer over the next couple of days. It’s an experience that continues the themes, tone and tension from the single player campaign and we can’t wait to tell you more about it.

The Last Of Us’ Multiplayer Modes Played And Tested

                                Factions
                                • Choose one of two clans
                                • Each match represents a day, try to survive 12 weeks
                                • There are two game types
                                • There are seven maps
                                • Plenty of customisation options and load-out tweaks to keep things interesting

Listen Mode is in, although unlike the single player in Factions it’s limited to a few seconds at a time before it recharges. Generally keeping still will mean you’re not visible to others, but the skill mentioned above at least lets you move undetected, albeit slowly.
The two game modes are Supply Raid and Survivors. Supply Raid sees players from each clan scavenging for supplies with a twenty-life limit, although anything crafted or bought is carried over if you die (assuming there are lives left). Survivors is more brutal: once you’re dead you’re dead until the end of the round, and there are seven rounds for each match.
The Last Of Us Multiplayer: All The Facts

As great as The Last Of Us’ multiplayer mode, it doesn’t really feel like a huge – or even innovative – addition to the game. Much like Uncharted’s multiplayer, it will gather a passionate group of players but won’t pull in the masses.

It’s the pacing that is most refreshing about the multiplayer mode. Even when compared to Uncharted, it’s a much slower, thoughtful affair. When you shoot, you do so to kill. Wasting bullets could see you lose the inevitable war of attrition.

The added bonuses of the Factions mode is a quaint addition too but, again, never really feels as fleshed out as it could have been.

Overall it’ll certainly be worth jumping into multiplayer when The Last Of Us launches later this month, but we doubt it’ll keep you hooked for long.
