Well, premise is a strong word, but it was mentioned since the beginning of the game's reveal that the story was about a world in which people became infected and you are playing a survivor.

That sounds like a half concocted story so im not sure that's the entire thing. It can't be just a run on game of survive... that's pretty lame don't you think?

It looks great, the early stuff they showed was awesome, this is where my interest in playing parted ways, but I'd watch someone else play it... I'd get tired of it eventually... the whole zombie thing in every game might as well be monster themed because its the same thing on a lower level.

Yeah, I'm with you on that point. I'm going to wait for reviews before I purchase. If there are going to be points where you're just fighting wave after waves of zombies I'm going to pass.

I'm hoping that's not the case. I'm expecting there to be a deep story about a bond that grows between a father and his daughter -- two ordinary people trying to survive in an extraordinary situation. I'm expecting a lot of shooting (what game doesn't have that) but I'm also hoping for lots of stealth opportunities and more puzzle solving than we saw in Unchartered 3.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm hoping this game will appeal more to my brain and my emotions than my trigger finger.

The other point I keep making is, they aren't telling us what the point of the game is.. just clips of this or that.. whats so hard about explaining the objective? survive isnt it... survive is in every game or its over

Ah, I get what you're saying.

I think there was an article that covered some of it. I'm almost positive it's something about promising to bring the girl to another location. I can't remember if it's to meet with her family or something, but I think that's what you're doing.

Why exactly this character is doing it? I don't recall.

One of the videos months ago broke down the story. No PC anymore otherwise I'd search it. I think the one where they introduced the woman that knows Joel

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)

Joel comes to promise a friend to get Ellie away from the military regime running the quarantine zones, so you are being chased by the military while trying to avoid infected and human scavengers.

That's as much as they've said regarding the story.

If I was to speculate, Ellie is either infected and has some immunity, or is found to have immunity and you are asked to get her to an independent group to try to figure out a cure because the military just wants to dissect her.

They've said they wanted the game to focus more on survival and psychological aspects of combat rather than action, limited weaponry and non-regenerating health seem to back that up.

I really am trying to avoid the previews/game commentaries. I want to be completely fresh going into this game.

Most games, I've kind of spoiled myself before release, and then when I get in game, I'm not as stimulated by things that happen when I know what to expect.

I've stopped watching video or reading on the game a long while ago.

                    I don't want to know.

I have watched all the videos and apparently this is what the story will be. I will spoiler it even if its really vague:

                        Spoiler

Thats about all thats been confirmed so far but I am sure like most games there will be a story trailer that will be released closer to the release date.

You gotta play 2 its by far the best entry in the series.

The whole premise of the game is the infected people. Maybe he just thought it was about survival? I don't know.
I wasn't expecting wall to wall infected people. That reminds me of a launch game I had on the Dreamcast many years ago.

Love this approach, wish more games would take that route. Adds more strategy and drama to the mix.

I don't think it's wall to wall. I will be disappointed if it is. My understanding is we will see a good amount of healthy people.
