Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
When I first started this game, I told myself "wow, I bet I'll be up finishing this one one sitting".
Later I found myself having no choice but to turn it off for a while. It's just so emotionally draining, your nerves are fried, your heart is tired of beating in your throat. I just couldn't do it for the duration.Comment

Finally wrapped this one up.
Didn't want it to end, but like all good things it just had to.
10/10 and GOTY for me. Hands down no Contest.

Bolded something in your spoiler
SpoilerI got through that part the first time I did it. I think I did things backwards and it actually helped me. I found the door first, then all the runners started banging around. I killed like 2 of them, found the keycard, then promptly realized the door needed power after trying to open it turned on the generator, then I "saw" the bloater by listening for a quick second, but I ran up the ramp/collapsed part of the building before it even noticed me and dipped out the door. No incident with it. I wasn't even sure it was a bloater.
Lol same here man. That damn part of the game has got to be theSpoilerscariest most nerve racking video game level rivaling condemned I have ever played in my life. It's at the resident evil dogs through the window level. It was worst for me because when you go straight I had the flashlight looking at the doorway and that runner runs past. I was like ****, searched whole area like a snail with shotgun up, found door then picked up key card and nearly shot my pants when all the runners ran into the room. I panicked and clicked the stick which turned the light off to make things worst. Lol.
Regarding the generator part, I got there and was like "I'm going to get ambushed" so before activating it I threw 2 nail bombs in the doorway to the right then activated the generator. Did the quick turn and seen the bloated come through the door and get stunned by the nail bombs. Luckily I made sure I knew where the door was so I just sprinted my *** to the door and then it was over. Lol.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Would someone please help me out with some strategy here?
Ok, I'm about 60% through and I'm with...
SpoilerSam. Ellie and I got split up. She's with Sam's father and I'm with the kid.
...and I literally; yes literally, died 30 some-odd times (this does include a bunch of intentional restarts) trying to be stealthy to advance during an enemy sequence last night. My problem is at the part...
Spoiler...called The Sewer. I have to get past 3 or 4 Runners and 3 Sleepers to safely escort Sam back to his father and myself back to Ellie. The problem I'm having in this section is crazy though! Let me break it down.
1. I only have three arrows and one brick. I'm low on stealth supplies.
Ok, the BIG ONE..
2. There's something up with these Runners. They're like Runner/Clicker hybrids!!! For the life of me I CANNOT sneak up on any of these things without alerting them and the entire room! No matter what I do and not matter how far away from them I am, if I'm in the vicinity, they see me.
3. During one try, I made it to the end of the sequence only to find a Sleeper near the exit. And here's the kicker. I successfully distracted him but the game wouldn't allow me to climb up to finish the area!
So finally, I go in guns blazing and beat the section in like two minutes. But it felt so cheap! As if they all needed to be dead in order to advance. Which leads me back to my second point. I am low on stealth supplies (the level does not feed you bricks or bottles either) and either way, these Runner/Sleeper hybrid things with exceptional hearing and movement cannot be snuck up on for strangle kills (or at least I cannot do it).
What's the best way to go about areas like this? Can anyone give me any tips or strategy on this sequence and sequences like it?Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 06-20-2013, 11:40 AM.Comment

Spoilerkilling the Bloater? Every time I tried to get through the door, it was like greyed out until the beast was finally dead!
Man, that whole area did have my heart pumping. Scariest level I've ever played. Ever.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 06-20-2013, 11:46 AM.Comment

Completely unrelated, extreme spoilers but this is a good discussion. Again, don't watch until you finished the game, what's discussed here is one of the reasons this is quite possibly my GOAT (GGOAT?). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxDZh2fd4AUComment

Ok, so basically my question is this (so feel free to skip the novel I posted earlier).
How on earth do you stealthily kill a Stalker?Comment

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Spoileri stayed by the gated door where they start you off at and just lured them to me a couple at a time. i was low on bullets so couldnt really use any of my guns except for one.
first i put a a bomb down. lured the first 2 stalkers to me. one died instantly from the bomb, the other i meleed with my weapon. then i threw a bottle to lure another one. 2 came, i threw a cocktail at one and beat down the other with my pipe.
i beat down the rest with my Fists of Fire (lol) except for the 1 clicker. i shot him.
it took me like 15 tries but i finally got past it."on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"
Man there are no flashers... now what are we going to do for vd
yea but will they take psn cards
lolComment

Re: The Last of Us (PS3)
Thanks. I think you're right on that part. i don't think you can stealth through it. I just watched three walkthrough videos by three different players and they all essentially did exactly what you described (which is almost exactly what I ended up doing last night...minus the swagger.).
I guess I'm getting a little frustrated with stealth killing as the game progresses in general though. Even on Normal, it's beginning to get impossible for me.
This all started when:
SpoilerEllie got the sniper rifle and I had to clear a path for us.
And in EVERY enemy situation since...
SpoilerThe guards with the spotlight, for example...
I keep getting seen and alerting the entire field. This isn't a big deal but I was under the impression that almost every level could be achieved quietly.
I'm currently Googling "The Last of Us stealth advice." Would anyone care to give me some pointers (even in the scenes I described above because I intend on playing through this game several times)? I hate to go all guns-blazing because it kind of kills the realism/immersion for me when I over use it. And lately, I haven't really had much of a choice because I keep getting caught.
It's like the greatest game I've ever played but the last hour or two I've completely been unable to use any strategy.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 06-20-2013, 04:26 PM.Comment
