I kind of wish that I still had a PS3 for this one. I've been watching some guy play for the past couple of hours on a Twitch stream and the game is really nice. His commentary was cracking me up too, so that added a lot to it. He quite playing because he wanted to watch WWE, but I liked what I got to see.

I agree. When I was playing my jaw hit the floor. It was a shock when Henry shot himself in the head. One of the most jarring moments from a game I can ever remember. Really paints the picture of sheer hopelessness in that world.

It was so sudden. I was gearing up for something like Henry having to kill Sam, which would have been jarring in itself. But then he just shot himself so suddenly. That was just... wow.

Haha, neither of those users are done with their playthrough (I mean how could they, this game takes 17+ hours)

but they each have like 10 videos up.

My grandson asked me if he could buy me a game for my birthday and I told him to get me this.(I gotta respect the fact that he cared enough to want to get me something on his own).

Been playing the game. 27% through.

I don't know what it is, but there will be a moment when I try to convince myself that this game is more than something generic... then it just completely mind****s you and you're playing at the edge of your seat, mouth agape, palms sweating, and adrenaline rushing!

Not saying those down-moments aren't spectacular, either. I'm just saying that I almost forget how mediocre other games truly are in comparison to this. The graphics, the voice acting, the pacing, the dynamics, and dare I say the limited supply of ammunition and health are just so refreshing! This game is beyond excellent, and I have a feeling I'm not even close to getting to the meat and potatoes!

My other complaint was going to be that I was at 25% and I had only played for a few hours, and that was at a very leisurely pace (with dying a whole lot until I figured out how to pass something). But I just played for one more hour and only completed 2% more, so I'm sure the game has some good length and I just can't determine the rate of percentage completion by time alone.

One thing, though... damn this game is scary to play alone at night.

Something interesting happened when I got to the end. I went into the operating room. The doctor pulled a knife on me saying that I can't take him. I surprised myself in that I realize that I probably could've just punched him. But my thought process actually went, "If the story makes Joel fail, I can't let these doctors go to try again." So I capped the guy with the knife point blank. The other nurse panicked. So I capped her too. The last start wailing about me being a madman. Which made me actually hesitate and my thumb twitched. I shot her in the chest or stomach. And she didn't die.

She started sobbing or something. And I didn't shoot her again. I just went to Ellie.

Christ. I got so into that moment, I felt what Joel was feeling.

And then at the end, when Marlene goes "Let me go." And Joel says "You'll only come after us." *double tap*

I totally called it.

Man. Immersion. Total immersion.

I hope that there's more of this kind of writing and event scripting going forward. Games, movies, books, Sesame Street. Whatever.

Btw regarding the end of winter:

Was that guy trying to rape Ellie or just kill her at the end? The way she reacted seemed to point to the rape since she has been close to be getting killed before but maybe I'm over thinking it.

I was half hoping that Joel come in and torture his *** for a bit though.
