To tell you the truth I could see the second play through being much shorter since you know what encounters you can flat out skip and where to go but on a first play through its crazy. I spent that scavenging alone.

Finished the Last of Us. Tremendous game and story. Killed 678 things and died 105 times in just under 23 hours on Normal. 54% gun accuracy. I never killed anyone using a human shield. Didn't quite realize how to do that. I guess I'm not supposed to kill guys I grab right away lol. Note for next time.

Overall the story and main characters are as good or better than any of the Uncharted games. Probably better. It really made you care about the game. Even though the story was very linear the RPG elements, realistic way you have to conserve ammo and take damage (no 3 second wait to full health) and the multiple options you had to take guys down made the game great. The game scenarios really made you think far more than the Uncharted games.

I just finished. What an amazing game. It took me 20 hours and 18 minutes. I had 102 collectibles.

This is easily one of the best games I've ever played. Everything was top notch. Just an amazing experience.

I thought so at first too. But the second half of the game and my 59 deaths (89% through) disagree. I think over the first 25% though I only died like 5-7 times.

Anyway, dying takes up a lot of hours. I'd imagine a great player could probably capture all of the special moments and get it in at under 12 hours.

Oh, by the way, I don't usually run either. I like to walk and make it all feel and look realistic. When I see guys constantly running with Joel through non-combat sections the only thing I can think of is side cramps.

Lol yeah. It reminded me of the Mass Effect non combat running everyone hated.

Yeah, you basically just don't shiv or strangle them after you grab them and you can use them as a human shield. The AI acts accordingly too. I didn't actually use it for the first time until

I was in the hospital and was trying to get to the top floor and I encountered the fireflies with the ARs. Made best use of my smoke bombs in that area too.

Speaking of running, I didn't realize we actually needed to run and jump to a ledge until

the underground rapids just before the hospital, lol. I spent a good little minute trying to get on top of the duct. I even tried dislodging the truck and car with explosive. :-$
