About to beat this game on Hard. I completed it on normal already.

I usually play all my games on the hard level , but my daughter made me realize something.

Playing a game on normal gives it replay value, because you can replay it again on the harder level. I was like hmmmm your right, so that is what I did with TLOU, and im glad I did. Wish I did this with Tomb raider

Boy are they cheap with items on the hard level lol.

Just finished up the game a few days ago. I think my final stats were around 17 hours completion and around 78 items. Just about the best game I think I've ever played.

Beat it on Hard after opening. Learned my lesson from Batman AC, to do Hard 1st, which also completes Easy & Normal. Now Im replaying Chapters, missed a few items.

Took me 8hr 5 mins with 142 collectibles.. not bad. (edit - not sure exactly what the exact time of completion is.. stats must be wonky, but that's what it shows.)

Just beat this game.

This is the PS3's version of David. Classic and beautiful. We could not have asked for a greater game to end a gaming generation.

Just beat this on hard (with listen mode off), took me 20 hours. I found 105 collectibles. Probably my favorite game of this generation. All of the elements came together beautiful in this game. Story and the brutal/visceral game-play complimented each other perfectly. Voice acting and dialogue were in a league of their own, in terms of games. Only minor nitpick was I thought the game gave you a few too many guns as you progressed. That took at little bit away from the stealth and survival elements for me, in contrast to to the first half of the game when you felt like you had no margin for error. Though with less ammo than most games, you still had to make your shots count.

Going to play through again on survivor difficulty since that is now unlocked, interested to see what the differences are from hard.

On hard difficulty you can choose to turn it on or off. On survival it is automatically turned off and cannot be used.

I guess there is an option. I am playing on hard... and I can still use Listen mode.

It took me around 22 on my Normal play-through and at 80% on Hard, I'm estimating the second go-round will take me 20. At 8 hours, I'd think you were doing yourself a disservice because a lot of the magic in this game is from the optional conversations and exploration; all of which take TIME.

Got my butt handed to me last night. Hard. I'm up to the part where

and I am dying over and over. I don't seem to have enough ammo or health. And the load-points/checkpoints with

are really kind of poorly placed. Is anyone else having this problem?

I'll literally have the game load up after a death sequence with an orange health bar (no health packs either) and my guns unloaded right in the middle of a combat section. So when the game reloads, I immediately have to "reload" both of my weapons with only seconds before the enemies are all over me again. Strange. I take full responsibility for getting myself in these binds in the first place so don't get me wrong. But that said, it's killing my stats!

I do love how sparse ammo is on Hard level. Up to this point, every situation has been so realistic feeling. When combat begins I really take my time now; assess the layout of the land, count my inventory and say a little video game prayer. It's a cool feeling when a brick to the face is my "best" option. These lead to some nice hand-to-hand moments (guys begging to be spared, hostage situations, etc). Kind of like the 2012 E3 Demo. Bad. ***.

I did quite the exploring/running progression. Only missed about 4-7 items, verified with Chapters. This game reminded of my military service & the Marine training about flanking etc I was taught in Kuwait, outside of my regular Navy gun quals. Grunts taught me that side, and I showed them how to do "stuff" on the computer that would make someone flee to Hong Kong avoiding extradition etc...

I saved so much ammo, etc.. basically snuffed/melee everyone, or piled them up for 1-takers.. I did lose quite a bit running ahead etc, but that was to see where enemies were by the end of the game, did that less as it got really easy in some areas.

Playing Batman normal, I had to replay to unlock the Harder difficulties. So playing the Hardest 1st, saved time etc.. Made you think about progression better.


My playstyle was:

1. Increase clip size for all weapons as well as x2 slots for pistol & long weapons.

Being able to carry more, meant less scavaging around, wasting time, becoming effiecient.

2. Add scope to rifle & max that.

Killing things in the distance first. Leaves foreground enemies as melee/snuff/1 taker fodder, allowing me/you to run forward more.

3. Max armor piercing for rifle & scoped handgun.

Being able to 1-shot kill armored enemies saves ammo.

4. Max listening mode distance.

Just get it out the way, if you use it or not.

5. Max Weapon sway

One is great, but just get it done.. you wont have to worry about it on subsequent playthroughs later.

6. Increase damage for the guns that have it, and increase range for bow.

7. Use flamethrower & increase its range when you can. Saves ammo & well making crispies along the way is fun. Also use on groups. Nothing better than watching enemies set each other on fire.

Use the other points however you see fit. Only gun I maxed was the rifle.. I have about 170pts/250 parts to play with on Survivor, which I will start soon. Great game..

The norm seems to be 17-18 hours
