Was a big fan and long time player of the first one and just got an email today to sign up for the beta. Really looking forward to this game, the first one was great.

Never played the original game, but just Youtubed Guild Wars 2. Looks awesome! Definitely will sign up for the beta!

Plus no subscription fee to play is a huge plus for me!

Guild Wars 2 console version confirmed

Guild Wars Insider has the scoop on the confirmation of a Guild Wars 2 console version at some point after the game's PC client goes live. The source is an NCsoft earnings call, during which a couple of console-specific statements were made.

The call also mentions beta testing for the upcoming fantasy game. "In March and April there will be large-scale testing for GW2; depending on results of testing a finalized commercialization schedule will be determined. [The] console version will be launched separately from [the] PC [version] at a later date," the fan site reports.

NCsoft also says it will be considering "seasonality factors" when determining "final commercialization" for both Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul. Head to Guild Wars Insider for more, including audio of the call.

Not that I'd play it on a console, I'm looking forward to seeing how it ports over.

Pre-Purchase announcement

Starting April 10, players can secure their Guild Wars 2 Limited Collector's Edition, Digital Edition, or Digital Deluxe copy by pre-purchasing the entire game at buy.guildwars2.com or at select retailers. Players who pre-purchase any edition will have guaranteed entry into all beta weekend events, three-day headstart access to the final game, and Hero's Band in-game item.

Difference between Digital, Digital Deluxe, and Collector's.

Definitely going with the CE.

GW2 pre-purchase locations announced.

April 10th is fast approaching, and the ArenaNet team is doing its best to be sure fans are totally informed on how best to give up their money when Guild Wars 2 is finally available for pre-purchase. French Community Manager Stephane Lo Presti has put a list of retailers participating in thepre-purchase program up on the Guild Wars 2 Wiki.

According to the game's FAQ page, fans will be able to order the digital Standard and the Digital Deluxe editions directly from NCsoft (Steam is not on the list, so they're out for digital pre-purchasing). These physical retailers, though, will offer at least the Standard and possibly the Collector's editions of the game, which means that fans will have a special interest in which of the listed retailers provide the CE version of the pre-purchase. Keep in mind that these are the retailers for pre-purchase, not necessarily launch or pre-order. The list is pretty lengthy; it's almost like ArenaNet wants to make pre-purchase as convenient as possible for as many fans as possible. Hit up the list if you want to figure out where you're headed on April 10th.

As much as I hate it, looks like I'll be at Gamestop that day.

We’re counting the days until the first public Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event, which begins on Friday, April 27, at noon PDT (GMT-8) and ends on Sunday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (GMT-8). Hundreds of thousands of players from around the world will get their first taste of Guild Wars 2—and rest assured, we’ll be playing alongside them!
There are a couple important things you need to know about this Beta Weekend Event:

• The only way to absolutely guarantee your access to this or any future Beta Weekend Events is to pre-purchase any edition of Guild Wars 2.
• Customers who have pre-purchased the game will receive an e-mail next week with instructions on how to download the client and participate in the Beta.
• This is a public event, which means that you’re not bound by a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). So go ahead, feel free to take screenshots, shoot video, blog, tweet, write, or compose a rock opera to share your Guild Wars 2 experience with the world.

Nope, once you pre-purchase they send you the CD key. It's non returnable and non refundable. I believe their may still be a chance you can get in the betas if you've signed up but haven't pre-purchased but pre-purchasing is the only way to guarantee you'll be invited.

Figured as much, thanks for the confirmation. Tried the open Diablo 3 beta this weekend, ran like a champ on max settings. Guess I'll think it over this week and make my mind up.

Hmm, I prepurchased from Arenanet themselves and havent even got so much as a conformation email or CDkey. Do have the automated email they sent when I bought it though.

Edit: Lol , Im stupid. CDkey code is in the email that was sent when I bought the game.
