I started playing the game yesterday since Black Friday.

I am getting hooked after playing the 1st couple sequences. I am still getting use to the controls, but loving this game so far. The graphics really stepped up from the 1st couple Assassin Creeds.

Is it best to play these games in order of their release ?

I got turned off from the series after the first game, but my friend has II, Brotherhood, Revelations, and III and he's going to let me borrow them.

I'm thinking about just reading the outcome of the first on Wikipedia and then firing up the second game.

Has there been any patches released? I had to bail on this game, when I had to take to loot three corpses and one of them disapeared before I could loot it, and never complete the mission.

It's not necessary because you switch from playing as Altair, to Ezio. I'd personally still try and finish it out, but you don't lose anything if you skip it.

You can skip to III if you really want to, but you will be missing out on the excellent II and Brotherhood. III has some elements of both games in it, but not as well done.

My friend has II, Revelations, Brotherhood, and III on 360 and he's going to let me borrow them whenever I want them. I just started II lastnight and I had to force myself to go to bed. I'm enjoying it much more than I did the first one. I only got halfway through that game, before I hung it up.

edit: Just realized I just repeated myself, but oh well.. lol.

Videogame credits are getting ridiculous, it seems like if somebody at Ubisoft overheard someone say "assassins creed" in the elevator, they get a spot in the credits.

I always watch them just in case there is a cut scene at the end. Plus I get too paranoid in the sense that if I skip them, I'm worried you wouldn't be able to see the cut scene if the game had one.
