Re: Assassin's Creed III
There weren't glyphs in Revelations either. The Underground was totally redone and now you have to exlpore the tunnels and find the exits before you can just fast travel where you want like in Revelations.
There are tombs, there are just done differently in the game. Play the Peg Leg missions by collecting the trinkets and that leads to earning a special sword in game similar to earning Altair's armor in AC II and Brutus' armor in AC Brotherhood. You have Borgia Towers or Templar Towers in game repersented with liberation missions and Forts you can liberate.
Ubisoft just did a bad job of explaining why the player should pursue these missions in game and directly linking the side missions to the core missions like in Brotherhood and Revelations.
There was just so much to do, they couldn't possibly intergrate it all like they wanted to. As I've gone back and played through the game again, I really got a new appreciation for what Ubisoft went for. They took a lot of risks and they have and will pay great dividends in the future.
My only beefs are the weak story of Connor and yeah, they did dumb down Assassin Recruits and Assassin Contracts. Plus the Guild Missions this time were a step back from Brotherhood, but a HUGE upgrade from them being non-existent in Revelations.Last edited by cdawg44; 12-10-2012, 09:11 PM."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: Assassin's Creed III
Having to explore the fast travel tunnels was stupid, wandering around a bland underground maze following rats is not fun. They should have had side missions where you had to bash the controller into your face, it would have been just as fun.
Calling the Peg Leg stuff tombs is being generous, the tombs in the old games were tricky and more like giant puzzles, you had to pay attention and really watch where you were going, occasionally even solving an obvious puzzle along the way. The Peg Leg stuff was incredibly straightforward, and felt way too much like a bad, low rent knockoff of Uncharted. What you earned was a Captain Kidd costume and a shard of eden.
Getting rid of the towers was a plus, or it would have been if they varied the missions they replaced them with. Fort liberations were entirely too samey, while the liberation missions felt entirely too inorganic with very little real payoff. the liberation missions made me feel like I was doing them all for naught, as nothing really changed besides getting some fairly useless assassins.Comment

i miss not being able to explore any tombs like in past games. this underground fast travel stuff is in no way a decent replacement and if it is supposed to be that is very stupid of them."on hoping there is a PSN flash sale before Valentine's Day"
Man there are no flashers... now what are we going to do for vd
yea but will they take psn cards

Re: Assassin's Creed III
Strongly considering buying Enzo's Trilogy for myself for Christmas... I've only played the first one so far, and I've been wanting to continue when I got the chance.
The only thing stopping me is that I want to finish reading the Game of Thrones series during my break and I'm almost certain that if I buy Assassin's Creed, I wouldn't be able to get through the first book lol.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed III
I just finished AC3 and besides some beefs I have with the game, I enjoyed this quite a bit. The story seemed to get a little bit disjointed in some spots, but it was good throughout. This is the first AC game where I haven't tried to complete all side missions, which is rather odd for me since I have tried in all of them. I might go back now and complete the rest of the side missions, etc.
I did't mind the story of Connor at all and there is a lot there between him and his father. I felt the revenge aspect to the story was intriguing and actually would not mind if the next game continued with Connor, it gave a fresh take finally to the series. Rumors have it that the next game might be taking place in Brazil, not sure how I feel about that one but it is logical that they would touch on Brazil at some point as there is a lot of history there about mankind.
The naval battles were fun and a nice addition. Before I played this I was reading about how bad they were and I actually had a good time with them. It really added a needed aspect to the game.
The ending, I'm not too sure what to make of it and those end credits..........left me speechless on having to sit through them. It's like they gave credit to everyone and their mother, grandma, etc. LOL!Comment

If I don't collect the almanac pages before advancing into Connor's story will I be able to collect them later?

Re: Assassin's Creed III
Can't believe how long I've strung out this game by doing side missions, or just taking time to run through New York and kill as many reds as I can just for the hell of it.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed III
It's unfortunate as the writers and directs have an amazing ability for story writing and story telling. There just doesn't seem to be a lot to Connor. He's honest, buy why is his honesty so decency so important to him. There was no defining moment for it that seared that desire into his heart/being and nothing that conveyed the need to be so to the audience/gamer. Perhaps it was just the way Indians were raised? If so, that was never explained either. Just no rhyme or reason for Connors motivations, which leads to an empty character.
With both Altair and Ezio, I never questioned why they were doing what they were doing. It always made sense based on their character and the character's motivations. With Connor, I don't get most of what he's doing.Comment
