Is anyone else struggling to find this or is just me?

Seems like its no where!

I phoned my local EB Games and it's in their system but they haven't got it in yet. The employee said check back tomorrow as it's listed for the 14 on their canadian site. So doubtful you'll find it today.

Would love to hear some impressions when somebody finally gets a hold of the game. I'm debating between picking this one up or waiting until Combat Wings comes out. I'm leaning towards Birds of Steel...

Anybody have an opinions?

Birds of steel has over 100 planes & combat wings has 20 from what I've read. Combat wings looks good as well but I'll be getting birds of steel though I will take a look at combat wings at the end of the year. Never a bad thing to have a few games to choose from. Plus both games are priced at $39.99 at my canadian eb games site which is a plus so maybe both are a possibility.

My Gamestop only got two copies of this game (Birds of Steel) in today....one 360 and one PS3. I snagged the 360 copy and have completed the tutorial so far, took about an hour or so.

Was able to land on the aircraft carrier on my 2nd try but with using the simplified controls, not touching sim as of now.

Tutorial consists of regular take off, landing and flight controls.
Practicing shooting....balloons.
Torpedo bombing ships.
Dive bombing ships.
Landing on an aircraft carrier.

Controls and views are great. 3 views to choose from and you can zoom on any of the 3. Cockpit, virtual cockpit and behind the plane. If your current plane has a gunner then there is also a gunner view. You can look around anywhere in any view by using down pad and "R" stick.

Graphics are good, nothing groundbreaking but they are fine.

Planes appear to be locked except for the basic one you will start off with. It looks like you can buy the planes with points you earn by doing the missons.

Main menu consists of:

Historical campaign
Events
Missions
Couple of others can't recall them at the moment.

Looks like you can paint your planes and maybe even place decals on them.

What about online guys? I hear there's 16 player deathmatch and 4 player co-op dynamic campaign?

Can anyone with the game kindly enlighten on this?

I got the game last night. Very cool. Pretty hard on realistic and simulator settings.

Here is the multiplayer info:

When setting up a versus game you are first asked what game type and where you want to play. These are the options available.

BATTLEFRONT DOMINATION
Guadalcanal battlefront domination
Kuban battlefront domination
Ruhr battlefront domination


AIRFIELD DOMINATION
Kuban airfield domination
Ruhr airfield domination



It should be noted that the teams are split into Allied and Axis sides. You will only be able to take an aircraft that is from the team you are on.

Also, there is no red or blue band on your aircraft to tell teams apart now.
AIRFIELD DOMINATION (TAKE OFF)
Malta airfield domination


AIR DOMINATION (TAKE OFF)
Pearl Harbor air domination
Ruhr air domination


AIR DOMINATION
Wake Island air domination
Midway air domination
Kuban air domination


A brief description of the game types.
AIR DOMINATION
The main goal is to capture and hold an air zone. When one team has control of the air zone the opposing team will loose points. When a team runs out of points they loose. I believe you also loose points when you are shot down or crash.

AIRFIELD DOMINATION
The main goal is to capture and hold an airfield. (capture the airfield from BOP) When one team has control of the airfield the opposing team will loose points. When a team runs out of points they loose. I believe you also loose points when you are shot down or crash.

BATTLEFRONT DOMINATION
The same as Air domination except you can attack the opposing team's spawn zone. When all the ground units in a spawn zone are destroyed that team can no longer respawn.

Any game type with (TAKE OFF) in the title simply means that players will spawn in on the ground and will need to take off manually.

once you pick a game type you are presents with these options.

You can also do the dynamic campaign in co-op and there is actually a mission editor that lets you create a mission and do that online as well.

I ended up picking one up from Gamestop last night. I went in and asked if they had a copy, she replied they did not but would look to see if a store close-by might. Eventually she realized it might be in the box in the back (yesterday's shipment). She was kind enough to go back and find the one copy (for 360) that they ordered in the shipment.

You may want to see if other Gamestops might have their orders in the back as well...I did notice on their shipment sheet that she left out that the release date listed by Gamestop was 3/16/2012...

I picked up my copy from eb games today. I asked the employee if it was in and he had it in his hands as he was just putting them out on the shelves. He must of sensed me coming to get a copy. I was lucky though as he only had one PS3 copy left. I really enjoy the game but their is a learning curve to get comfortable with the controls even the simplified controls. I use the regular PS3 wireless controller. There are alot of customizable options to tweak the controls as well which is good. Graphics are really nice and I love the orchestral music played at the menus. The game is challenging especially for newcomers to the series like me but it is fun.

You guys are making me jealous as heck!

I am currently out of the States for some work abroad so my only option is to import (I use Play-Asia).

And they still dont know when they are getting copies. Whoever is in charge of marketing and logistics needs to get the boot as a lot of people seem to really love the game!
