It took me a bunch of tries like you but I finally beat the level. I did nothing special just took out the planes attacking from behind and bombed the main carrier. I try to do movements by tilting the plane so I don't get hit by the flak making my run. Sometimes I switch over to my wingman's plane if I have any left during the attack. Be aware you will also be attacked as you make your way back to your own carrier to land your plane after destroying the carrier. My aim when bombing is not the best especially from high above so I try to swoop down low to drop the bombs. It can be tough like you said as the flak can tear you up rather quickly. Good luck.

Re: Birds of Prey (360/PS3)
Thanks for the feedback. I took a couple of days off from this mission and fired it back up today and beat it the first time. Didn't really do anything different, just lucky I guess. Didn't even have to switch planes but did get shot up enough that my plane was tilting to one side and my plane was smoking. Decided to give the carrier landing a try anyway, already beat the mission so nothing to lose and got lucky again, couldn't believe I was able to make that landing."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: Birds of Prey (360/PS3)
Just picked this up last night and YESSSS it is excellent. I quickly jumped online and went 3-1 in my first match, first game, first time flying in the game, etc etc. Controls are nice, but excited to see about getting my Av8or Joy setup correctly!Comment

Re: Birds of Prey (360/PS3)
I am not consistent online, my highest kill total in a versus game is 16 and then there are games that I get none. I have 31 planes in my hanger now and it seems that what really matters is what plane you are using. Speed of the plane and the guns the plane has. I do much better with some planes than others, seem to do better with the Russian planes. Best to use different planes and see works best for you.Originally posted by ImTellinTimIf I lived in Waco, I would find you and kick you right in the nuts.Comment

Yes you can go into the hanger and when highlighting a plane it will say test flight. Not all planes are available right away to do so. It is great practice to get used to the controls and check out how the planes feel."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: Birds of Prey (360/PS3)
I found a copy at Fry's and snapped it up, well worth it. Now I have to put in some work to get some planes in my hangar. I find Versus mode on sim setting is an easy way to earn credits towards planes and extremely satisfying when you get a kill.
My only real issue is a sound bug where the engine and guns seem to cut out completely. But once I start a new game they come back.Comment

The HUD (virtual cockpit) also seems to help with the clarity. But wow getting kills on anything but Simplified is hard, which was the case in WWII anyway.
Can't stress enough how awesome this game is, literally blows Ace Combat out of the sky (no pun)Comment

With that said, I have always been a huge fan of the F6F Hellcat! Thing was a beast and a work horse! Boom and Zoom is the name of the game!!

Re: Birds of Prey (360/PS3)
I actually realized the mistake after I created the thread (I accidentally named it after the previous game!).
Oh well my cover's blown as was my Zero!Comment
