38 and married with 2 kids (8 years old and 1 year old). Try to sneak as much gaming as possible, which isn't very often. I wake up early on the weekends to try and get some gaming in, but for SOME reason everyone WANTS to wake up early on the weekends.

I play at night after my 2yo goes to bed and get up at like 0600 on Saturday to get it in before they wake up sometimes. And yeah, they always magically wake up right when the session is really getting good. [emoji23]

        44, married, 2 kids (16 and 14)...

I'm in my gaming prime now. Kids are well past self-sufficient. Wife has no problem with me gaming. She likes the fact that I play because it gives her a chance to watch Netflix each night during the winter while I'm in the other room playing games.

Most week nights during the five winter months we have in PA go something like this...

        1. Dinner
        2. Clean-up kitchen
        3. it's now 6:00 PM, it's 15 degrees outside and dark.
        4. One of us looks at the other and says... "Meet in the bedroom at 9? 9:30?" head nods.
        5. I head to game room to game. She heads to living room to watch NF.
        6. Meet back in bedroom at 9ish.

More time on my hands than I know what to do with, actually.

I used to do the early weekend thing (38 and a 5 year old boy, twin 2 year old girls). Now the kids just wake up too early so best I do is put on some show I like while the girls play on weekend mornings. Their penalty for waking up so early lol.

Lately though my wife's been falling asleep earlier, so I'll get 30-60 minutes some nights, so am starting to play a bit more.

If I'm working from home I'll sneak time in at lunch too lol *shhh*

Nice! By the time my son is that age I’ll be in my early 50s....and likely still trying to game a bit. Lol

38 with 4 kids (14, 11, 9 and 5) wife goes to bed around 9 on weeknights along with the kids. She gets up alot earlier than me. I get to game a couple hrs a night during the work week.

Rare gaming on weekends when the kiddos dont have something going on with sports and competitions.

66 with two grandchildren. I read in the New York Times a few years ago that it can be beneficial for older people to play video games for eye coordination and reflexes. Bring on MLB The Show 19!

                  Re: Older gamers?

                  46. Married for almost 21 years. 4 kids - our oldest passed away in a car accident 3+ years ago in Florida while riding with two of his friends (both survived). He was just 2+ weeks shy of his 16th birthday. I suppose I'm odd in that I'm a minister of a church. 13 years in Florida (from Ohio) - we ended up leaving. Moved to Missouri - and had a bad experience & situation. Ended up leaving and now live in Indiana. I'm in a state of flux & confusion about what to do next in life. I turned down a great situation after everything was finalized. I won't bore you with all the reasons why - a couple I can pinpoint, but there are other deep-heart reasons I guess I just can't explain. If any of you are the praying types here, I'd appreciate it. There is something potentially on the horizon that I don't want to go into here, but might be that which I've hoped for my entire life. I've already provided some materials to those who will be making some decisions in the near future. Will take patience and some time - which I have and actually want because of our other 3 kids (2 boys - a jr. (age 16), a soph. (age 15) and our 8th grade daughter (age 14) - yes, we bunched them up LOL!

Personally, I play video games as a release. I have an original xbox, 360 & ps4. I gave my XboxOne to one of our boys as I just didn't find it all that necessary in my life. I mostly play MLB The Show 18 and NBA 2K11 - classic roster files. I consider myself a together type of person. Pretty strong. I don't need much and I'm low maintenance. My wife has struggled. I get it. She comes from a screwed up family, so even on her best days I knew she needed special patience and a sense of tenderness. I don't really have any "friends" - trust me, ministry life doesn't lend itself to that. So I've had to find my way through things pretty much on my own, but I'm cool with that. I accept things as they are. My faith is strong. I don't say much because the truth is, people don't understand. It's a path you have to walk, and I don't want to burden others. I don't want pity. I'm not a victim. But I would really like for this potential next ministry step to come together - just for once in my life I'd like to have something happen FOR ME - not for selfish reasons, but because I would be able to give all I have to this opportunity. It would be a tremendous challenge and come with some difficulties - it's not about something bigger or paying better...it's just personal to me. Maybe one day I can explain...

I've done a ton of roster stuff here at OS. I like this community. It's changed over time, but most do when new people come along. Reading some of the stories here are refreshing because I've often wonder if I'm some weird dude who can't give this stuff up. I'm not ultra-consumed with it like I was a few short years ago. But I still enjoy it. Appreciate you guys sharing your stories.

I'm 51, been married since 1987, one son, 15 yrs old who shockingly is also a gamer! I have been playing since the Atari 2600 in the late 70's. Still have that system as well as my sega Master system and original Genesis. Sold off my Nintendo collection in the 90's! doh! Set up a new game room in my newly renovated basement and am now in the midst of re collecting original atari 2600, NES, SNES and 64 games. Collection is growing weekly! Wallet is taking a beating! lol! But having a blast playing old gen games with my son!

Got up to relieve myself and wanted to see how cloud saves worked for BC games between my XB1X and 360 for Fallout: NV. Two hours later, a few deaths and taking the long way through a scorpion infested area, I finally made it to Novac. SMH

Just turned 37 and had my first daughter just last week so gaming has been on hold a bit. I do get some time when my nephew wants to see Spider-man swing around and also he loves basketball so I get to play a game here and there with his dad but I think it'll be awhile before I can do heavy gaming.

Don't think i'll stop but I have psoriasis and sometimes i get flare ups where I get arthritis from it and I can see that be a problem in the future if my fingers and wrist flare up.

I’m 51 and I feel I’m starting to lose interest in gaming. My daughter past on Dec 19th and I just don’t have the desire to game. I have played a round or two of TGC19 at various times but nothing else really.

I’m not giving up just yet. Hopefully the desire comes back because I need something to do during these winter months.

                                Happy early birthday A&S!

I'm 40 with 2 kids. I have a 3 year old son and a 16 year old step-daughter who has SMA and is confined to a wheelchair. I'm divorced but my ex-wife and I are good friends(Another story for another thread )

I get a good amount of gaming time in because unfortunately my kids aren't with me all the time. They are with me more than most in my situation get to be with their kids, but I also take care of my Dad due to his poor health. We are in the process of moving him from his house out to mine, which stands to reason because lately he's been staying here with me.

There are days where I have nothing but time it seems to games and other days I don't get a chance to play at all. It balances out. My 3 year old son is getting into gaming, so he is starting out on the original NES. His favorite game is Hogan's Alley, and he argues with R.O.B. the robot.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
