Like I said; action, story, shooting = Uncharted. Pick up the final two games and complete the trilogy my friend.

Red Dead is right up there as my favorite game ever, but there is also a TON of down time, which it doesn't sound like you're looking for.

Hmmm...if the action is good and the story is addicting, I might have to put up with some down time. I'll have to check how much a used copy costs here.

        Thanks guys.

I love RDR it's a awesome game and Worth a play through at the price but it's not a shooter. They are some missions that have shooting but just as many that don't. Yea the story and characters r epic.

Have you ever payed Any of the resistance games? The first two r only 10$ and the third one was very under rated.

I don't like games where you shoot aliens/monsters/zombies. If I did, Resistance and some others would be great. I know, I'm not easy to please.

Max Payne 3 will be great, once the price drops and there are some used copies out there.

Yeah, I have played the demo and been looking forward to it. I'll just have to wait until it gets cheaper/used. And I hope the SP is long enough.

Yeah!!! I'm not a big fan of shooting robots/running at full speed all the time, but this looks great! Also, Binary Domain looks good.

If you're looking for PS3 exclusives, I would suggest Killzone 2 and 3. You should be able to find both for a reasonable price.

Not necessarily exclusives, but I only own a PS3 (yeah, some people own only 1 console and one car, would you believe?).

I actually finished Killzone 2 a little while ago, and really liked it. I will play Killzone 3 at some point, just had to take some time off of Killzone. But it's a great game. If Killzone was about laser guns and stuff like that I would never ever touch it. But since it's about bullets and the weapons are pretty cool and realistic as it gets in a futuristic game, I like it.

I know what you mean bc it looks like your ideal games are the same exact as me as you look for single player games, with a good story, set in modern day, long campigns, buy games used and don't care about MP. The bad thing is that games that fit all of those are hard to come by. So you might have to be willing to give on a little and try some out. Because you can get some great games for a cheap and it lowers your risk alot if you wait for a buy 2 used and get 1 free deal at gamestop.

                          Shooters

Uncharted 1,2,3 - This is a must have for any ps3 owner and it's the greatest series for the ps3 by a mile. The first one is solid, but the last 2 are on another level. Shooting isn't the best thing about the game as the climbing, puzzles and story are all more important. The story isn't on going so you wouldnt have to start from the first one if you didn't want to.

Resistance 1,2,3 - I know I mentioned this to you and you said you didn't like aliens but if you ever get caught up for 10$ for the first 2 there is little risk.

Mafia 2 - Another game you can get for about 10$ and there is missions you do outside of just shooting. The story is better then the gameplay.

Spec Ops the Line - You said you was following this so hopefully the campign will be atleast 8 hours long. With little press about this there is a chance the price drops sooner rather then later

Killzone 3 - I never played the first 2 and I got the first one for 3 it was solid but the campign was really short.

                          Far Cry 2 & 3 - I haven't played far cry 2 but I know farcry 3 looks amazing

Dues Ex - You prob wanna avoid this as the story was confusing and gun play seemed off compared to other shooters ive played.

                          Non Shooters

Heavy Rain - I know this has nothing to do with a shooter but it matches up all the others you look for in a game. Its amazing and a diffrent game then anything you will find and its also cheap.

Red Dead Demption - Amazing game but there is some down time in action as its a open world game and some missons aren't action.

L.A Noire - It got mixed reviews from alot of people on here and again not a shooter are a action game. But it tells a good story and if you know the kind of game you are getting you should like it.

Thanks for the long list, I'll look into some of them. I'm going to watch some Resistance gameplay videos again. I have done it in the past and didn't like it, but I'll give it another shot.

I really wanted to play Mafia 2 (I played the demo) since I'm really into old-times and nostalgia, though when it comes to shooters - I prefer modern day. I'll see how much a used one costs.

Far Cry 3 is definitely a must for me, but I'll have to wait, for obvious reasons.

I've been following this thread as I don't play online, either, so was curious what this list would look like.

The Uncharted series is a must-own. I just got into the series last year but have already finished all 3 games. I hope ND releases an edition with all 3 games as a combo pack.

I just picked up L.A. Noire (wife thought it sounded cool), but haven't started it yet. Hoping to get into it this week.

Heavy Rain, RDR and Mafia II are on my radar, too. Thanks for the breakdown.

An obvious choice to me is Orange Box. Half Life is still amazing and Portal is worth the price alone. Then pickup Portal 2. Can get them both for $30 at Gamestop.
