    Re: Cyberpunk 2077

It took me about 3 and 1/2 months but I finally finished this game last night along with the majority of the side stuff. The only things I didn't finish were Cyberpsycho encounters and fights. I will either read about the other endings or just play the ending over to see everything but this game is good.

The city itself leaves a good bit to be desired but the story is enjoyable and after speaking with some friends who have finished it's interesting seeing how your decisions can change the outcome of a storyline. It's unfortunate a lot of people won't get to see it because of the awful launch but I'm glad I gave it another chance at $25.

I am extremely slow at finishing games these days because life is so busy I'm saving a lot of money and getting games for cheap.

Really getting back into this after being so hyped pre-launch.

I'm actually really liking it and some of the missions are really cool. I'm switching my approach up depending on the surrounding from stealth to Rambo.

I have those leg boosters too which allows for charge jumping - really useful.

Only gripe is I regret getting the wire-mod for my arms - don't care if it's powerful I just don't like and want to go back to just normal fists but can't seem to remove them ...

Got a new gaming pc last month so I installed this just to ogle some ultrawide ray traced graphics for a little bit…

And now I’m just 20 hours in, so I guess I’m replaying Cyberpunk, lol.

I really do love this game, and it’s in a great place now on PC, and I would assume the same goes for current gen consoles.

One of the biggest QoL additions from this latest patch is a transmog system. My current look is actually pretty cool, but I look forward to not feeling forced to temporarily look like some sort of cartoonish prostitute from a Tim Burton fever dream.

Is the difference between normal version and "ray traced" resonably visible? I might get the game if that feature is worth it.

It’s a pretty big difference, but costly from a performance standpoint. If you have the hardware to maintain 60 fps with it on I’d easily recommend it.

Night City is a particularly good setting for ray tracing. Everything is so shiny, reflective, and wet in this world.

And it’s not just the obvious things that look better. One of my favorite combinations of ray traced lighting and shadowing is how it illuminates skin. There are times when I’m watching other characters and I’m blown away by how life like the ray tracing can make them look.

This game should’ve been so much more. I remember my vision of what it would be when it was first announced. Just no where NEAR what I thought it would be. Doesn’t have the character nuance along with interaction and overall look that you would expect from a next gen title that followed up the Witcher 3. Dropped the ball imo

Booted this one up again recently. I want to like it, but it reinforced my previous sentiment, no big change. Really was looking for a highly detailed third person adventure with a cover system, great physics, sound effects, the works. Comes no where close to The Witcher III, I expected waaaay more from these guys second outing, especially for current gen platforms.

Where was it stated that it was going to be 3rd person? I don't believe that it was ever mentioned as such
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.

From 2012 (when the game was announced) until 2016 it was supposed to be a third person game.

Might anyone be able to chime in and let me know what the consensus is on Cyberpunk 2077? I've been following from the periphery so the gist of what I've come to know is:

                        1. This game was super hyped in the lead up to release

                        2. Came out with lots of bugs

                        3. Game considered disappointment

                        4. Patches dropped that vastly improved experience

So at this point, would you guys consider it a worthwhile buy for XBox Series X? I'm kind of looking for something that could help keep me busy while I'm recovering from surgery this summer.

I had got tnis for basically free when all the bad stuff was going on with it. I didn’t really care if ever played it or not as my buddy borrowed it. I’m prob more of a casual when it comes to non sports game since I’m picky about the games I get into.

I didn’t have much to play and decided to fire it up over the weekend just to say I tired it. I played 2-3 hours and so far it’s a hit on my end. The good news about waiting is I’m playing with the free ps5 upgrade despite a ps4 disk.

The only bug i saw was the game crashed once during a big part and had to backtrack a few minutes. I’m pleased with that side of things. I’ve not noticed anything, but I’m not one to go around looking for stuff unless it’s obvious.

The game play and shooting I’m loving. The story has had some good moments with some scenes dragging on a bit. I’ve not got into the open world side of things yet.

This is always going to be a difficult one to answer. Since you are going to have a bunch of down time then that does make it a little easier choice.

If the reason that you have delayed getting it is in any way related to #1 on your list then #3 should still be true. It became a disappointment because of the hype and promises by the dev team over the years (the game that was released is more GTA than the massive Cyberpunk theme open RPG that was hinted at). The main story was pretty dumb too imo, made even worse by how little some of your early "decisions" matter. Even as things open up later, the main story never really improves (side quests are immensely more intriguing).

If you did not follow the development then you are less likely to be disappointed though. That does not mean that it's some great game which is simply overshadowed by hype. It's simply a game. It's GTA without some of the attention to detail that made GTA5 great, and it's an RPG without the living world of a game like Skyrim. My gripes about the main story aside, it is a game that does not necessarily doing anything bad, and it offers the potential for dozens of hours of gameplay.

I can't speak to the new-ish Phantom Liberty DLC. Supposedly that has improved some things as well

I will never give the game a ringing endorsement and IMO there are far better games out there
                            Spoiler
, but if you're going to be sidelined for a while and this style of game is up your alley then it doesn't hurt to give it a shot.

Well for me, having been a huge fan of CDPR and Witcher 3 and knowing their long support of each release...it's a top five game for me. I've played through it three times, first after a couple months on Series X with no issues, again after the next-gen update (1.5 I believe) that upped the graphics and added the Edgerunners content, and just finished a full 2.1 playthrough w/ Phantom Liberty on PS5.

I was aware of but not dutifully following the hype, so I was never disappointed by woulda coulda shoulda stuff. The game boils down as to whether you like the setting and city, which I do.

It's not a great FPS (a genre I don't like so this wasn't an issue), combat can get stale (easy to get OP with levels and builds), it's not GTA/Red Dead open world but there are still tons of details to uncover, with even small quests having little shards and info for world building even if they aren't super deep, the main quest is short if you rush, the life path choices don't do much save additional dialogue options (Corpo has the most), Phantom Liberty was just insanely fun with some great set pieces and moments, several endings to the game and each has a little epilogue you play through...but in the end it's a dystopian neon city of dreamers dreaming big and the risk of being devoured by reality. If that is remotely interesting, give it a whirl. Play through the opening and the initial heist mission. You'll know if it's for you.

My full playthrough with DLC, doing every mission main and side (but not all the NCPD side hustles), took just over 100 hours. By comparison, a completionist Witcher 3 playthrough takes me around 140.

                              Good luck!

Something that has been infuriating is I have the original disc release for PS4 and on my PS5 it simply will not let me DL the next gen update at all.
In fact it does not even show up for me in the PS store or in the load screen for the game when I insert the disc.

                                I have tried everything.

                                It simply won’t show up.

I won’t play the game unless I get this update......and I am not paying for another copy of the game. I refuse to and should not have to.
