      Giantbomb Review and Quick Look

Not to sound elitist, but going from the PC version of Saints Row IV to the Xbox 360 version of the game was enough to make me think that they maybe shouldn't have released this game on consoles. The frame rate of Saints Row: The Third wasn't pretty on consoles, and the bigger ask related to your character's speed and mobility make this game run even worse. The frame rate is rarely acceptable and on top of that, the game likes to hitch up completely for a bit when it autosaves. Making precision landings and lining up headshots is more difficult with its rotten frame rate, and the game is, overall, less fun on the Xbox 360 than it is on a proper PC as a result.

That said, I enjoyed it a great deal, and parts of this game almost feel like they've been specifically tailored to my interests. I mean, Riff Raff hosts one of the radio stations. That's a great choice. The game is packed with some great moments that subvert the open-world crime genre even further than SR3 did, it's funny, and its references aren't just lazily tossed off, they're earned. You'll feel like you've played some of this before, but if you're at all interested in Saints Row's brand of weird, it's absolutely vital.

      Play it on PC, though.
PC version is $10 cheaper anyway, so that's fine with me.

Hopefully the 360 freezing issue is fixed by the time I pick the game up in a few months.

Playstation magazine gave it a 6. Anyway, I'm passing on it. Not a fan of the direction this game went in.

It looks fun as hell and that kotaku review confirmed for me. I'm not sure when I'll be able to pick it up, but I look forward to flying around and ****ing **** up. Hopefully by then they'll have released a patch to correct the freezing issues.

Also the PC version is more than $10 cheaper. It's $15 cheaper on Steam if you own SR3 and Greenman should have it for 25% off again this weekend. It was that much months ago,I just didn't want to get screwed over again and have it be even cheaper at some point. The 20% voucher apparently works now to make it $40.

The 20 minute mark told me exactly what I needed to know.

This game doesn't even need vehicles. Why would anybody drive one again?

I loved SR3's outlandishness, but super powers defeat the purpose of many sandbox elements I much prefer to use in my games.

Oh lawd the screen tearing! I don't think they had Vsync on.

There's cheats to remove the superpowers, wardens and simulation glitches.
On PC you can make it spawn normal gang members instead of aliens by editing one line.

Cars would still be useful early on when you don't have unlimited stamina. Plus some of them are just neat.

The GI review (which liked the game overall) actually had this same feeling. Said it kind of sucked that super powers had that affect though they like the powers too.

This is what I feared when I originally saw the super power stuff...the powers look cool, but what's the use for guns/cars?

Ill probably still pick it up a little later...
