Tales producer: no plans for Xbox One, PS4, Wii U
"The reason why Xillia was released only on PS3 was because that is the console where most of the users want to play Tales games," Baba told Spong. "When more and more users decide to buy a PS4 and want the Tales series on that platform, that will be when we re-assess things."Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Tales of Xillia (PS3)
Hard difficulty seems quite a bit more challenging than in Graces, because I really needed the food items early on to get enough gald for weapons and armor, and now I need it more for experience to keep it from turning into a huge grind. Not complaining though - I wanted more challenge and I'm definitely getting it.
Just got to the point where I have 5 party members, and being able to swap them in and out mid-battle was a nice surprise.
Enjoying it so far. Will probably have more to comment on later.Comment

Re: Tales of Xillia (PS3)
I can tell you this, I kind of took Graces "free" arte usage for granted. Artes have a TP cost in Xillia like in most RPG's, but unlike most RPG's, there's a pretty small limit on how many items of a certain type you can carry - 15. That means you can't just take an endurance approach to harder fights - either you or your party members are eventually going to run out of TP and you'll need recovery items to get it back. In Graces you could stay in any fight no matter how long it took, as long as you had the defense to not get killed faster than the healer could do her job, and as long as said healer didn't get one-shotted herself. You could really nickel-and-dime tough enemies with high defense that way.
Also, the AI seems pretty good at controlling the other party members, but it will suffer heavily when low on TP.Comment

Re: Tales of Xillia (PS3)
About 35 hours in now. I still slightly prefer Graces battle system (more fluid and open-ended combo potential) and auxiliary systems (not a huge fan of expanding shops and static gear), but overall, I like Xillia more. While in typical JRPG fashion it takes some time to get going, I'm liking the world building and story more than I thought I would. Outside of Vesperia the Tales series hasn't really been great in these areas, but I feel Xillia takes things up a notch. It's not amazing or anything, but it's nice to see them try to go for some more "epic" moments that you rarely see in this series.
I hope future Tales bring back the traditional overworld. The barren expanses in Graces and Xillia that connect places get kind of boring to go through. At least make them more interesting.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: Tales of Xillia (PS3)
Tales of Xillia 2 release date, collector’s edition announced
Tales of Xillia 2 will launch for PlayStation 3 on August 19 in North America and August 22 in Europe, Bandai Namco announced.Storyline:
SpoilerOne year after the climatic events of Tales of Xillia in which the two worlds, Rieze Maxia and Elympios, were united by the destruction of the barrier that separated the two worlds. Elympios is a modern nation with a high level of technological advancement gained through the use of spyrix, whereas Rieze Maxia is a previously isolated land which relies on spirit artes and nature. While both worlds work towards peace together, there are still numerous clashes due to cultural differences and it will be some time before true peace is achieved.
Jude, Milla and the cast of the original Tales of Xillia from Rieze Maxia now strive to live their lives and fight for peace in this newly reunited world. Tales of Xillia 2 centers around Ludger Kresnik, a young man and a skilled chef who lives in Trigleph city in Elympios with his brother Julius and their cat Rollo. He strives to follow in his brother’s footsteps and work as an agent in the prestigious Spirius Corporation, a large scale and illustrious company that develops technology for every field imaginable.
One day, through a chance encounter, he meets Elle Marta: a young girl travelling alone attempting to reunite with her father at the mythic “Land of Canaan” and ends up accompanying her. His choice to accompany her will send the two on a journey that will change the fate of the two worlds forever.
Features:
- A Bleak World - A darker story and noir atmosphere awaits Ludger and Elle as they must make hard choices and decisions that affect not only their own welfare but that of the world and people around them.
- New and Returning Characters - Jude, Milla and the cast of original characters fates intertwine with Ludger and Elle and unfold in character stories that players experience to see how their favorite characters have progressed in the aftermath of the story told in the first game.
- The power of Choice - Decide how Ludger reacts to situations throughout the game changing the upcoming events and affecting his relationships with his companions, ultimately altering the course of the story.
- Enhanced Battle System - The DR-LMBS (Double Raid Linear Motion Battle System) real-time battle system is improved and expanded with special battle abilities including the Weapon Swap system and Chromatus transformations.
- A Tale of Designs - Adding to the characters designed by famed Tales of character designers, Mutsumi Inomata and Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura, character designer on previous Tales of titles joins to design Ludger and Elle for Tales of Xillia 2.
