Re: Keep My Xbox or go for the PS2?

I would definitely stick with the XBOX. If online play isn't a factor (and probably even if it was), XBOX is looking pretty good right now in almost all aspects. Graphics, controller, hard-drive....As for your biggest concern, game library, I'd also stick with the XBOX. I'm not going to list tons of examples, but this holiday season is starting to look like the beginning of a great time for XBOX players. It finally seems like there are alot of very good XBOX games coming out, instead of a few good ones and a lot of mediocre ones - I can't think of that many great or highly anticipated games that will not be on XBOX. And as a sports gamer, you're definitely fine in that area with sticking with the XBOX. I think PS2 would be a waste of money at this point - I'm not knocking the PS2 entirely, but I think you'd find that you'd still be spending most of your gaming time and money on the XBOX even if you had it.

If it's just sports you can probably find enough to keep you going on the Box. However The XBOX will never have the library PS2 has especially when it comes to niche titles and sheer quantity of them. While XBOX has a very respectful library if you want more options than just the mainstream titles you'll find a lot of variety in the ps2 library, especially if it's not just you using the machine. That said I'd have to say your best bet would just be to have both. I'm not an online player either, just no time for it. My gf and I prefer the PS2 for the variety and none of the XBOX exclusives have made us want to get a box yet but i play it a lot at my bro-in-laws. Since you don't go online either a ps2 would only be 179 without the adapter anyhow. They're both great machines and are worthy of purchase on their own merits, they do such different things anyway.

Re: Keep My Xbox or go for the PS2?

I made the switch from PS2 to Xbox a while back and the ONLY game I miss is Pro Evolution Soccer (aka Winning Eleven).

Oct-Dec this year highlights a trend that I think will continue until the next generation of consoles. Quite simply, PS2 is starting to show its age. It's atill a great console, no doubt about that, and yes the library of games is huge but let's be honest, there aren't that many great games (at least no more than the Xbox). I don't see PS2 doing anything special before Christmas and I can only see the Xbox getting stronger.

What is it that you think you'll gain by swapping your Xbox for a PS2?

I think I will keep my xbox and possibly save for a PS2 to compliment it. It's not worth taking the loss on getting rid of my xbox. Plus I'll probably regret doing such a thing which will only lead to me buying another one.
