The lack of customization is a game breaker for me.

It's the reason I've bought Need for Speed games in the past, and with the extreme lack of it, this game is not a buy.

That is not Need for Speed. It's just a clone of Burnout with real cars. I was going to get this, but after seeing the gameplay... The NFS franchise seems to be well and truly run into the ground.

        Utter disappointment.

I for one, enjoy Burnout much more than NFS and think Criterion taking over development for the NFS franchise is the best thing that could happen to it. Hot Pursuit was excellent. The franchise was being run into the ground well before this.

Yeah, Black Box was on a steady track downward after Most Wanted. I think Criterion has rejuvenated the series some personally.

I love Burnout, always have done, the games have always been great fun. But NFS is not Burnout.

For a start, the lack of customization. People want NFS to be about making your car unique. Plus every car is an exotic/prototype car, which I know is where the series started.. But that was 10 years ago. Times have changed and so did the series when they released Underground. I want tuned, muscles, classic, etc.. Not just fancy looking cars. I remember in Underground 2 being able to modify a Peugeot 106, giving that tiny thing a huge body kit. Now? I have to put up with some 500+ BHP Lambo that I can only change the color on.

I've played NFS since the get go, the Underground's and original (and 10x better) Most Wanted were the glory days. Hot Pursuit was fun and did remind me of the old Hot Pursuits, but this... Meh, it's killed the magic.

Don't like the game play either. The sense of speed makes it look like your doing 350+ mph, the turning/drifting looks horrible.. It's just bad.

It's just the way I feel about it. I'd still get more fun out of playing all the old games on my PS1/2.

I agree, the more videos I see of this game the more it comes off as a reskinned Paradise City. In the Eurogamer Expo conference video there was a video with one of the bridges in the game and I remember it exactly. We had put so many hours in that game via MP here on OS which was a blast.

The lack of complete customization sadly makes me not want to buy the game anymore. I'm just fond of using (as much as possible) only one car, low-tier or not, from the get go, tune/mod it to the max if necessary, until I finish the entire game with it.

Not me. If anything, I wish they could double the car list and give me even more to find and add to my garage. The only thing I would like to see is visual customization ala Forza. Whatever though. It looks like I'm getting a sweet list of cars to drive really fast, so count me in

Lack of customization at this stage in gaming, ESPECIALLY in a game based around cars, is absolutely unacceptable and inexcusable.

Makes it a deal breaker for me.

If I wanted Burnout, I'd go play Burnout.

I'm on the other side of this argument. I understand the desire for visual personalization, but when it comes to performance customization, I feel like modern games in general not just driving games go too far, with scarcely any documentation to boot. I don't (always) know what sliders in sports games do, I can't always tell which scope is "best" for the way I play in shooters, etc.

I actually like the idea of a game where each car is used "as is". If it suits me, I can use it, if not try a different one.

I love this game. Just picked it up on the PC.

Honestly I haven't played a racing game in years, yet I feel this is my GOTY.

I think this is one of the fortunate ways to approach the new MW. If you haven't played a racing game in years I think there would be lots to like about this one. Compared to other car games, not just racers, in recent times I just dont think it has much to offer this late this gen.

Still, I always love reading posts like this one.
