    Re: Battlefield 4

I think we're running into the problem with the majority of our users being on PS4/Xbox. A good chopper can absolutely destroy infantry with the minguns because the max spread is so low now with 25 damage 1000 RPM per gun (Scout chopper has 2 IIRC). That DPS combined with a max spread of .6 (The same base spread as a 93r) and a bullet velocity of 700 m/s is really really powerful but it's hard to keep that kind of precision on console because we cannot change the turning speed of vehicles.

DICE really needs to start running different code bases for console at this point.

      Battlefield 4

So it's still basically required to run staff shells? I see that they altered the damage, but I don't think 25 damage was what made it overpowered. They just need to fix the reloading of the missiles so you can't fire back to back. Some say that you risk the ability of taking out infantry for quicker tank kills, but it's not hard to kill infantry considering you can fire 2 missiles quickly. Sure it most likely won't kill them with a direct hit unless he was hurt already, but following up with that second missile moments later will.

It's basically the canister shell prepatch in bf3. Everyone ran that and you had all your bases covered. After they changed the reload mechanic, not very many used it even though it was still a very reliable way to kill infantry. Canister in bf4 though is garbage.

I'm glad they removed the chopper flipping upside down when it gets hit by a missile too.

Just a headsup to you guys that bf4stats has a GREAT phone app (got it for my Galaxy Note 2 yesterday). Everything you need to know, and it updates really fast.

A nice tool to check your unlocks progress and help you know what to 'push' on as well besides just having access to your stats.

It's free with just a small ad at the top, or you can go premium for just over $2 with no ads and an extra feature or two.

                        Re: Battlefield 4

Here's the details about February appreciation month......

Battlelog is a free social platform that ties into Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 3 and lets you socialize, track stats, plan your next game, and more from your web browser!

To thank you for your dedication and support, I’d like to announce the Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month. Starting on Saturday, February 1, DICE is saying THANK YOU to all players by hosting a month filled with fun community missions and daily giveaways that you get just for jumping into a match.

We appreciate all of the great feedback you continue to provide about all aspects of Battlefield 4. We take this very seriously, and hearing directly from you has helped to make the experience better. The latest information on our game updates can always be found in the BF4 Control Room, including a few new additions that I’m pleased to say are coming soon. First, we are further improving a number of items commonly referred to as “netcode”. This will tighten the overall multiplayer experience, and we will be able to share these items with you in detail soon. In February, we’re also re-introducing the fan favorite feature Platoons in its first iteration. In this added social layer, you can team up with your friends to create your own social space and accumulate stats together. We’re also working on other feature additions that you’ve been asking for – stay tuned for more.

Now, let me walk you through some of the initiatives that we will be launching during Player Appreciation Month. We will have more announcements to make in the upcoming weeks, but below are some of the highlights.

                        A Battlepack a Day
Every day that you log into the game in February, you’ll receive a Bronze or Silver Battlepack. For those of you who haven’t started opening your earned packs yet, these Battlepacks contain bonuses like XP Boosts and soldier camos. Normally, it would take approximately 30 hours gameplay to earn that many packs. Every day that you log a multiplayer game during the month of February, you will receive a new Battlepack. During weekdays, these will be Bronze, and during Saturdays and Sundays we will give away Silver Battlepacks. Remember to activate your earned XP boosts in the in-game menu to accelerate your progress.
                        Shortcut Bundles
We are preparing two shortcut bundles for Battlefield 4 that we will make available for download at no cost during the Player Appreciation Month. These voluntary shortcut bundles will unlock all grenades and handguns for Battlefield 4 (the base game) so you can make up for lost time. Or if you’re new to the game, they will help you catch up with players who have been on the Battlefield since launch. We will get back to you with more details once we have set release dates for these items.

For all of our Battlefield 4 Premium users, we’re adding two additional weapon shortcuts, unlocking DMR’s and shotguns. That way, if you like, you can quickly get your hands on a large portion of the weapons available in Battlefield 4.

                        Double XP Weekend
During the Player Appreciation Month, we’ll be running a double XP weekend for all players. If you’re one of our many Battlefield 4 Premium members, you’ll also get an additional double XP weekend during the Player Appreciation Month as an added bonus.

                        Community Missions
You will be able to participate in global DICE Community Missions where you will work together to unlock Gold Battlepacks. During the first of these Community-wide challenges, we will ask you to grab a set number of dog tags during a specified time. More details on this first Community Mission in Battlefield 4 to follow.

                        DICE Developer Talks
Increased developer interaction and transparency on how we work is frequently requested from our fans. During Player Appreciation Month, we will host a number of interviews with some of the core developers of Battlefield 4. In these interviews, you can ask them about their line of work, the effort they’ve put into Battlefield 4, or in the case of our core gameplay designer, what the balancing process of Battlefield 4 looks like. We will announce the dates and channels for these developer interviews as the Player Appreciation Month kicks off.

We’re going to have more information available on each of the Battlefield 4 Player Appreciation Month activities throughout February. Check back here for those details.

If you are currently playing Battlefield 4, we hope you enjoy this month-long community appreciation. If you haven’t played in a little while, it’s a great time to get back in the game. Whoever you are, we appreciate the time you spend with Battlefield 4, we thank you for your support and we hope to keep hearing from you on the Battlefield 4 forums on Battlelog. Here’s to a great 2014!

Just saw it, starts on Feb 1st, good looking out. Although at times I get backed up with 2 or 3 Battlepacks because I forget to go and open them. Hopefully it isn't limited to one weapon each pack. I'd like random stuff thrown in there because there are some attachments I'd really like to have for certain weapons I don't use very often.

I noticed through the Battlelog the few new weapons being introduced. They are already listed, a couple of them I saw were the F2000 (Assault) AS VAL (PDW) and the DAO-12 (Shotgun) GOL Magnum (Sniper)

I love Carbines most so kinda disappointing I don't see a Carbine coming, although we did get the MTAR as part of China Rising.

Damn the VAL is a PDW now? I used to rock that thing on BFBC2 when it was essentially a semi auto sniper rifle...with out the sniper rifle damage. You had to be accurate though because the magazine size was pretty low, like 15 if I remember correctly.

I don't think you're thinking about the same weapon. The Val has a high fire rate with a mag of 21, It's definitely closer to an assault rifle than a semi auto sniper. Also it was classified as a PDW on bf3 as well. I'm not sure about the bad company games.

I saw a couple videos of metro on bf4 and it still has the same glitch where people get into the ceiling. I'm surprised they didn't fix that this time around.

EDIT: I was wrong, sorry about that. It was in fact a sniper in bc2. Damn I hardly remember anything about that game other than playing rush on valparaiso.

Sure opening Battle packs is fun and DICE (EA?) whoever, has a ton of making up to do. However I don't see how this is the way to do it, other than being a ploy. A Battlepack every day for a month? Seems a little excessive if you ask me. In my opinion half the reason to continue playing (at times) is to unlock things and not have everything handed to me.

Again the XP boosts are nice but really what does your level have to do with anything other than a number next to your name.

Idk, there's nothing wrong with DICE doing this, or using the battlepacks, which I will when I play. But I won't sign on ever day just to get them. Just seems like another BS marketing scheme to get people to hate them less for the debacle that's been BF4.
