Only able to get 1.5 matches in. It was solid but there was still that BRUTAL slowdown when the building on Hainan went down.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Battlefield 4
This is a post from one of the members of the race team forum I belong to. Quite a few of them are big into BF but always complaining about the lag among other issues. Whether or not this is the cause BF4's issues I don't know but it's still a good read and a very interesting video. Way over my head but still interesting. LOL!

Made a quite surprising and shocking discovery about Battlefield the other day which kinda explains most of the bull**** that goes on in this game, and why it never really feels 'right'.
Battlefield's netcode runs at 10Hz. Yes, 10 fps - updates from the server every 100ms.
That is quite frankly appalling for any modern shooter - COD netcode runs at 30Hz (33.33ms), most Source engine games (Team Fortress 2, Counterstrike, Titanfall) run at around 60Hz (16.66ms). All modern Frostbite engined Battlefields (BC1, BC2, BF3 and BF4) on all platforms (360, PS3, Xbone, PS4 AND EVEN PC) run at the same 10Hz netcode rate.
So whether you kill someone or not is basically random - pure luck whether you're at the start of the 100ms server update window, or near the end of it. If you fire your gun, it could be up to 100ms + your ping before the server then updates that with other players and vice versa.
So all the one shot kills, getting shot from around the corner, getting shot by people who haven't even turned around, kill trading etc are all side effects of this 'internal game lag'. Kill trading especially is one noticeable effect of such a slow server update - it's quite likely that two players will do enough damage to each other in 100ms of gameplay (that's 6 frames of the game), hence why you both die. DICE have tried to 'fix' this kill trading, but not by upping the netcode rate - instead it now looks at which player has the best ping rate and 'awards' the kill to the player with the better ping as its 'more likely they hit the other player'.
This guy has made a video explaining the whole netcode problem in great detail - he makes a few mistakes, but his reasoning and explanation is sound. The bit around 12 minutes is the important bit of the 10Hz update problem:

I don't think I'll be buying any more Frostbite/Battlefield games unless they change the 10Hz netcode, it's a serious design flaw that makes the game far to random IMO. I always felt there was something a bit off about the game, but could never put my finger on it until I saw this.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

Re: Battlefield 4
I posted a few times and it seems like everyone just ignores my post I figure maybe because my name isn't highlighted in green or blue or I'm not as cool as some of you folks...
But I'm curious does anyone on here still play BF3..? If so it will really mean a lot if you guys can answer my question. I just ordered a copy of BF3 online from ebay for $8 used and I know the community for BF3 is still active cause I looked online but what I want to know is if the DLC's are still worth buying or people don't play those maps anymore? I tried posting on the battlelog forums to ask this question but for some reason I can't post there.
Also bought BF4 and I'm thinking about getting season pass but I'm not sure if it's worth it or not.Last edited by UWfan206; 04-15-2014, 01:11 PM.Comment

Re: Battlefield 4
The bf3 os thread is dead, so I'm assuming not very many from here still play bf3.
The dlc in bf3 all range from different types of modes, so it depends what game modes you play. Personally, I'd avoid close quarters and armored kill.

I don't play BF3 anymore so I can't comment on that. http://bf3stats.com/ has some player count/server info that may be useful.Comment

Thanks brother, yeah I looked at that and that's what made me pull the trigger in getting BF3..
It's a lot more than Far Cry 3 which is averaging 200-300 tops and I didn't have a problem finding games in the silver player maps..
Also thanks for responding. Sorry I didn't catch your post the last time. Yeah I heard BF4 was buggy that is why I bought BF3 to play in the meantime just in case BF4 frustrates me. lolLast edited by UWfan206; 04-15-2014, 01:22 PM.Comment

LOL! I certainly feel your pain on the not so quick part although the monitor I just got recently has helped me tremendously. My KD has gone from .7 to 1.2 in Titanfall since using the monitor.Texas Rangers/Saints/LSU/Tottenham Hotspur

Re: Battlefield 4
I totally agree Koolie. The last few night I have played the bullet lag has been so bad. I actually quit after two games last night. Now, I know I'm not a top player, but I know when I should win a gun battle. I actually think it's DICE. Rez was saying it was bad on his end last night as well.Gig 'em, Aggies!Comment

As for BF3 Premium, I think it was mikenoob that mentioned close quarters and armored kill. I had those included in premium, but they were definitely my least fav of bunch, but that doesn't mean they don't fit for everyone. I'd probably steer you away from CQ since you mentioned you weren't a fan of COD any longer. A COD clone is probably the closest description you could get for that mode. Of the 5, B2k with the base set of maps was probably by far my favorite.
As for BF4, definitely get season pass so you can at least play the base maps. My game (Limited Edition) came with China Rising, but I've shied away from buying BF4 Premium this time around just because there were a lot of issues with the base game and I just didn't want to drop an additional 50 bucks on extra content that would likely have a lot of the same issues. I did however splurge for Second Assault because it had a few of my favorite maps from BF3, mainly Caspian and Op. Firestorm, but I don't have anything outside of that. If anything, I'll probably wait until someone has a sale for 29.99 like I did with BF3 Premium.A negative mind will never give you a positive life.
