I much prefer today's games. The only time I play an xbox or PS2 game is the HD remakes.

My son though loves NES, and I suffer through some of those games with him.

There was a prototype video floating around the Internet at the beginning of this generation:

Sadly, nothing ever came out besides that promo.

            You could argue that:

            A) The technical limitations of the PS1 forced developers to become more creative and find alternative ways to achieve their game's vision since the console couldn't just pump out photo-realistic images like they can today.

            B) There is so much financial risk in releasing a game nowadays, publishers are playing it safe and only funding game ideas that are "sure bets" with proven market appeal.

Don't have sure bets anymore because a lot of people are sick of things and want something new. Homefront was supposed to be a sure thing but it flopped.

Spyro, Road Rash, Jade Empire, etc......All these games were great back in the day.

I believe that since costs have risen to make these games that more and more developers are hesitant to go away from the crowd. I think that part of the reason you see games being clones of successful ones.

I mean we do have some this generation. Borderlands is one of the only ones that I can think of that did so. I am pretty sure theres more but im tired and not thinking hard atm. Lol.
