Releasing alongside Madden and a week before Mad Max and MGS may keep it down for pending reviews. Biggest interest to me besides the dark horror in it is the endings. "Hundreds" of possible endings? I know I've never played a game with that many possible endings (well, non sport titles) nor do I think I'll ever complete them all, let alone more than 1. Still, love to hear from OS'ers who will try to do it.

Until Dawn is designed to be replayed multiple times as players will not be able to understand the full version with only just one playthrough. Each playthrough will last about nine hours in length and the game mechanics will utilize a new in-game system called the "Butterfly Effect" in which any choice of action by the player may cause major unforeseen consequences later on. Throughout the game players will make difficult decisions during ethical or moral dilemmas such as to sacrifice one character in order to save another as one example. The "Butterfly Effect" system blurs the line between right and wrong decisions and it is possible for players to keep all eight characters alive through to having them all killed, allowing for many different paths and scenarios players can take and seemingly endless multiple endings. Until Dawn will have a strict auto-save system to prevent players from reloading a previous save file to an earlier point in the game if they regret an in-game decision that they have made.

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
Sales wise, it's in a horrible spot. Game would have been perfect for late October due to the theme of the game but releasing then would be even worse. Game should have been released late July/early August but oh well. I'm expecting scores in the 7-8 range. I'm picking it up on September 1st along with Mad Max and MGSV. I'm already buying it so it doesn't matter but im not a fan of the live action trailers they've released. They should be showing the game itself instead. Watching the game itself like a year ago or whenever it was where a man and a woman are sitting at a table and the guy has to choose to shoot himself or the woman. Reminded me of the Saw movies and that got me into the game. The live action trailers, not at all.
As for all the endings and whatnot, my only goal is saving Hayden Panettiere. Gotta save the cheerleader. LOL.Comment

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
I originally had it selected as one of the 3 games of choice during the E3 promotion, but decided against it.
I'm starting to regret that now.
I gambled thinking that there's a real possibility this game doesn't sell well and will be at a discount price only a month or two after release - and possibly as a free PSN game come Christmas.
Hope it's a great game though.Comment

Also, if you want to protect the cheerleader, venture in;

Not sure if you saw what I think is post 26. In it, there's a piece regarding character buildup. Here, you make each character into a certain person; like funny, tough, sexy, pristine, etc... This character build is one of the reasons of the many choices that person gets which makes for the many possible endings.
Our first instinct is to make Hayden our little darling princess. However, if we build her Strong? Tough? Smart? Hey, I can't guarantee it will save her but it was an interesting discussion of the game mechanics by Gameradar. Check it out if you like. Then let me know how you built her up so I make her the complete opposite. We can see then who saves the cheerleader

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
I really feel that this game can be successful if its "bug free". Many of us love Horror. Give us a game where we control the destiny of our characters and it gets even more intriguing. It's already a unique game with the so many number of endings. Just imagine OS'ers filling these pages up with hundreds of different stories that they can tell.

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
IGN gave it a 7.5:
I kind of suspected there might be some issues with this game, but none of the ones listed will bother me too much.
Looking forward to OS impressions.Comment

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
Interesting premise, and turbulent development process (originally a PS3 Move-based game?), will have to redbox it at some point and give it a play through.
Agree with other points that it's coming out at a rough time, buy this opens up decent sales come October probably.Comment

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
Oh, I still want to get it. But I want the finished game.
From the take it as you please for the preorder extra scene ;
Spoiler
I've heard from 2 separate sources that the preorder extra scene you get is better played a second time around instead of at your added start. The game is a behavior-generated choice game and the character builds takes away the options of starting your story as you wish it to start with all your characters.Comment

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
The review does give away a little bit of the story so don't watch if you don't want to know any bit of info.

forbes 9/10 i normally dislike that site because they talk so much trash on the ps4. so them giving an exclusive game a 9 sounds good and the reviewer sounds passionate about the game.

Re: Until Dawn (PS4)
I'm a few hours in. Creepy and consistent with the horror/slasher genre. Not sure what to make of these mini-games between chapters and how they impact overall story.The Last of Us is the Citizen Kane of video-games. It is better than every game that has ever come before it, and is the new benchmark for all games to follow. It is nothing short of a work of art.Comment
