    Retro City Rampage

This game is coming out tomorrow on PS Vita, PS3, and PC, so I thought I'd open up a thread for it. It's been in development for forever, you can read more about it here.

If you don't know anything about it, it's a top-down (semi?) open world game in 8 bit. It has references to games like Super Mario Bros, Legend of Zelda, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Bionic Commando, Paper Boy, Skate or Die, Blaster Master, Ikari Warriors, Metal Gear, etc. Seriously just freaking watch the trailer...

For those us who grew up in the NES era, it's going to be absolutely awesome. It's $14.99 on PSN and you pay once and get a PS3 and a Vita copy of the game.

Game looks awesome. I may have to get a bigger memory card, as my 4gb is almost full.

I think it's an awesome game but I have to try the demo first.

              Re: Retro City Rampage

I believe there's a demo on the PSN version. The game is only 31 MB, so I tethered my Vita to my iPhone and was able to download in a couple minutes.

I only played through the first two stages but I LOL'd 3 times. There are different skins you can use to make it look like you're playing on an old Gameboy, CRT television, etc. Game doesn't seem too difficult and there seems to be a lot of fun to be had.

Buy this game if you have a sense of humor and want to laugh at some NES and 90s references.

I think this game supports Cross Buy, did you get the Vita version for free as well?

                      Still no reviews/impressions out?

Had my eye on this, but I need to know if it's worth a 15 dollar purchase.

Hopefully Bobby will give us more impressions since he has the game. Sounds like he enjoys it.

                          Re: Retro City Rampage

Man i dont know what to say...i love it. I played non stop on a 2 hour flight yesterday and LOL'd against my will like 3x. I just had a huge grin on my face and im sure ppl thought i was a maniac haha. If ppl had looked at my Vita and saw that i was lmao playing some NES game they probably would have thrown me off the plane.

The gameplay is top down old school GTA style. Jump, shoot, jack a car. The references are fast, numerous, shameless and at times overwhelming, which i love. Within 3 minutes you might get 5 refernces from old games, movies, etc.

Theres a point in the game where you meet yourself from the future and the guy goes "if youre me, than what number am i thinking?" and the other guy goes "69 Dude!!" i almost died.

Buy it, play it, and love it but dont blame me if you dont want to play an 8 bit game, are too young to get the refernces or dont have a sense of humor.

I loved the demo man it's so funny. I think the game's a mixed parody of earlier games/movies rolled into one adventure. It's like Back to the Future meets GTA meets Super Mario meets Contra, etc... Wish this game was made when we was still little kids LOL. I love it but my eyes hurt now damn, afraid it can't handle seeing 8-bit characters no more.

I found the part when Jester said "go hit the crosswalk button" very funny, looking at the traffic zooming across lol.
