Can you trade in a helmet to Xur and get the better version? A friend was telling me I should be able to trade my symbiote in for Xur's version....

He has certain items available to upgrade, not all exotics. If he does then you can trade it in. You must have an exotic shard and over 7k in glimmer.

he doesn't have it for trade this week. he does have it for sale though, if you got the coins. the new version starts at +30 light and higher armor than a maxed out old version.

I bought the new version he had and just sharded the old one. It gave me an exotic shard, which can be used for the final upgrade on the helmet.

So, what benefit does VoG still hold if any? I've a buddy who hasn't done it yet.

My thoughts are we still need and can get shards, right? And will any drops be that of the new stats?

Upgraded the Light Beyond Nemesis for my Warlock, Armamentarium for my Titan, and the Icebreaker. Was REALLY hoping for the Gjallarhorn upgrade. Also bought an exotic engram and it turned into the Obsidian Mind for the Warlock. That thing is going to DESTROY in PVP. Nova Bomb for days!

Now I just need to wait for the weekly reset to get more marks. All I need is vendor boots to get to light level 31 (well, I also need to actually upgrade the new gear I have). We ran the Vault on Hard today with our group we usually do it with, and this is the first time we've all been 30's. It was an absolute breeze. Three of my buddies got the Fatebringer, and of course I didn't get the Mythoclast, but I got two Corrective Measures, Praedyths Revenge (for the third time) and two Raid helmets with my Warlock. Meh. Really wanted the Fatebringer and Mythoclast, but oh well. Once we all hit 31, the Vault will be a joke, but we all need to get the Mytho!

you still need shards/energy for any non-Crota raid armor weapons. Crota raid gear takes a different kind of shards/energy.

all loot(including exotics) in VoG will be old stats.

Yeah, pretty much for shards, energies, and any weapons you don't have. And no, nothing other than the Mythoclast will drop at the new light/damage levels. It really bugs me that a level 2 dreg can drop an engram that turns into one of the new max level guns or pieces of gear, yet the Vault on hard can't. They really need to change that.

Man that's irritating. So in reality, getting gear from the vendors is better for getting 30+ ? This is a totally flawed system and takes what should still be a viable option away....there's almost no reason to do VoG anymore.

Mythoclast is still a 323 damage, not 331.

My Gunslinger is happy, but not my Bladedancer.

Got myself 2 upgraded Exotic helms; one that Xur was selling and the other was a DLC one with the zoom on the golden gun. Can't say I'm gonna find that useful at all, though.

Upgraded my Suros and got a a Thunderlord in the Crucible.

I really want that obsidian helmet. Tried to get it today with one engram but of course did not. I don't want to waste all my motes in case they have chest piece although I did buy voidfang from Xur today to.

Xur-day not quite as disappointing as always. Still waiting on the three exotics I really want, though. Managed to upgrade the Armamentarium - missed you, old friend - and bought a couple helmet engrams which netted me two Warlock helms. Because of that I won't upgrade my 'Light Beyond' - I'll just wait until Xur resells it. Fairly certain I'll never get Saint-14. However, one of the 'lock helms was the Obsidian Mind which looks fantastic. Guess I'll succumb to the void on my Warlock now.

Still no IB or Gjally for purchase. Decided against buying a new Truth cause I never use it as it is. Thanks to the new raid, Xur, and the Eris quest, fairly certain I now have all the new Titan gauntlets. The exotic ones look great, but may not be used much. The ones from Eris will have to hold me over until I can get the radiant shards to upgrade the Willbreaker's.

Got my first legendary weapon. Did the Crota's End first chest thing, ended up with No Land Beyond.

I've already gotten like three new weapons from IB (not counting Murmur). No new exotics though. Made it easy to finally go through and thin the herd as far as legendary and exotics go. Got a legendary solar heavy machine gun that is basically the Swarm on steroids. It fires quite slow, but the impact is crazy high. Thanks to getting that, I broke down SGA. I never used it as it is, and if I ever want it again and get the bounty, it takes like 30 minutes to complete.

In all, between running the raid on hard and breaking down a bunch of old legendaries, I went from 30 or so shards and energies to 70 a piece.

What's the deal with Eris and gear/weapons? I haven't seen anything other than emblems and class items.

I've already gotten like three new weapons from IB (not counting Murmur). No new exotics though. Made it easy to finally go through and thin the herd as far as legendary and exotics go. Got a legendary solar heavy machine gun that is basically the Swarm on steroids. It fires quite slow, but the impact is crazy high. Thanks to getting that, I broke down SGA. I never used it as it is, and if I ever want it again and get the bounty, it takes like 30 minutes to complete.
