to me it's not really "moral high-ground" as you say, it's pve not pvp. for Crota raid, the cheesing Crota is not really that much faster, so you are not really saving a lot of time(maybe a minute?), and the cheesing usually take more timing than just killing Crota legit. I've been in a few groups that attempted to cheese crota(and they sucked at it) and it ended up taking more time than if we just killed him normally.
the bridge part would probably save the most time by doing the warlock revive thing, which we usually do if we have a warlock. as stated by someone else, when you do the raid 3+ times, you want them to go fast. But Crota can be killed within 3 minutes legit(2 sword runs) It's very fast. especially if you have a 32 in the group. now if your all 30s or below, that could be an issue.
but the whole disconnect/dashboard thing could actually be a banable action as your not supposed to "mess" with network connections in the TOS for Live(and I assume PSN as well). It's not so much exploiting the game as it is the online connect(it's probably not something that can be fixed that easily). so I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.
