I wish the point of playing would be because the game is insanely fun rather than the game being the most random crapshoot there ever was, that keeps you on the hook by not giving you the things you want. I mean if there was a way to specifically grind toward getting the thing you've wanted (for 5 months and counting now btw), that would be ok. But the 100% luck system there is now? Weak as hell. The least Bungie could do is slant the drop odds so you're more likely to get something youve never gotten. But no, Im on Dragonsbreath number 6 after this weeks nightfalls/raids. Why cant I trade this thing in for something more worthwhile than a shard?

Re: Destiny
I'm not going to argue that Bungie hasn't made mistakes. This is their first foray into MMOs, and there are obvious mistakes that were made. They atleast seemed to learn somewhat with the smart loot in the new raid, although I wish they'd implement it elsewhere like the VoG. I STILL don't have a Fatebringer.I wish the point of playing would be because the game is insanely fun rather than the game being the most random crapshoot there ever was, that keeps you on the hook by not giving you the things you want. However, nothing can beat the feeling I had getting the Gjallarhorn to drop, or specifically the Hawkmoon. When I got the Gally, two of my buddies had gotten it in the weeks beforehand, and watching them just slaughter gatekeepers in the VoG with it was awesome, and I knew I needed one. Fast forward a couple of Nightfalls, and my excitement was palpable when it dropped for me. I spent the next couple of days grinding like crazy leveling it up.
When I got Hawkmoon, it was one of only three exotic weapons I REALLY still wanted (Suros, which I still have yet to get, and the Thunderlord, which I got a few Nightfalls ago). Being a HUGE hand cannon fan and watching my buddy use the one he literally got during the FIRST week the game was out, I was jealous as hell. The thing just absolutely slaughtered everything when we played together. Fast forward months later, and the feeling I had when I FINALLY had it drop was just awesome.
Had I received either of these through trade, what else do I have to play for? Sure, I play for fun with friends regardless of drops, but the excitement in the back of your mind is always there when you have a chance for a sweet drop. I still get anxious as hell when we drop the Templar knowing that this may be the run where I get the FB finally. It hasn't happened, but eventually, my friends will hear my tears of joy.
I've had 4 Gallys drop throughout the last couple months, and almost all of them have been with an LFG group. All of my close friends have gotten one, but when I run LFG, there are typically a few that don't have it. The sounds they make when they see I got one are hilarious, and I can only imagine how they'd feel when they finally got one. Now, if I were to trade it to them, where's the excitement in that?
I have a feeling we're going to wind up fundamentally disagreeing on the trading system, but for me, I just can't see it working in a game like this.Comment

Re: Destiny
What does it say about Destiny that simply adding a trading system will ruin all motivation and excitement behind the game? What are you really fearing from a trading system? That you'll have nothing left to bother with Destiny? That tells me the game is a complete vapid husk whos only draw is keeping good game items away from users who dont donate their lives to the game. Its the epitome of diminishing returns. "Ive played vault of glass 50 times and still havent gotten Fatebringer. But Im sure this next effort will be worth it". Substitute fatebringer with any desirable drop and its the same; lunacy. And its sad that this is what the game boils down to. I want to think there is more to it than that.
And why would giving one of your gjallahorns to a friend be a bad thing? Since when is helping friends bad lol.
And to your first point, I think its dangerous to mention Destiny and MMO in the same breath because youre just asking me to really rip the game a new one. And I think Bungie has stressed that this game isnt trying to be an MMO.
If it werent for my friends, I would have abandoned Destiny a week after the game came out (which I did but was convinced to return). But now that Im all the way in, its hard to understand why the hell this loot system is this arbitrary for no good reason other than to keep the user on the hook. The loot system is the only reason day one people are still doing Crota or VoG or Nightfalls or scumbag Xur or anything in the game. To be fair, it makes sense for Bungie to lock any potential trading to keep its active user base up; and I think thats a scumbag move on their part. But hey, here I am still playing the game, hoping one day to get that one thing I want just so I can keep up with my friends who have gotten all desirable drops in the game and have moved on from Destiny until the next DLC. They do come back every Tuesday to humor me and help through nightfall where I get my weekly Dragon's breath that is useless in every way.
I guess Im a masochist or something. Some part of me does enjoy raging at Destiny/Bungie when the game gives me yet another Dragon's Breath. I joined a LFG this morning and beat Crota with randoms. One of the them got Dragonsbreath out of it. I think Bungie is actively trolling my PSN account. Maybe by the time I really give up on the game I'll have collected 15 Dragon's breath each one inherently more useless than the last.Comment

Re: Destiny
Man I'm still trying to get the Fatebringer too. I usually try at least 1-2 times a week and it still eludes me. I think I'm up to 10 or 11 hard mode clears. It seems like EVERYONE has the gun. I saw a guy get two at the same time, I wanted to punch him in the face.I'm not going to argue that Bungie hasn't made mistakes. Re: Destiny
Ive been trying to get Hard Light and Monte Carlo for two months now.
Bungie loves giving you the same gun over and over again. Since I first got Patience and Time to drop for me....ive had three more show up. I swear they weight the drops to ones you already hAve. Ive gotte. The same legendary guns multiple times.
So ewhat related, ive gotten three different legendary scout rifles, all of which ended up rolling the exact same perks. Its weird.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Destiny
Got the Monte Carlo & the Abyss Defiant from the Deathsinger CP on Hard this week. I was too hype but I want those primary arc weapons. I still want the Universal Remote from some reason tho.
No Gjallahorn yet either. I do have a legendary Scout Rifle with the Explosive Rounds and Firefly that I got as our gift so I'm actually content.Comment

Re: Destiny
I'd love trading, I hardly play Destiny anymore if at all and all my gear is wasting away.
I'd give my stuff to an OSer that still plays religiously.
Off the top of my head...
Vex, Hawkmoon, Monte Carlo, Gjallarhorn, all raid weapons from both raids, full raid set of armor (Titan & Warlock), Obsidian Mind, Ice Breaker (X3), etc.
There's more but that's what comes to mind immediately. All of it for fellow OSers.
But alas, no trading heh.Comment

Re: Destiny
Agreed. And there was a time, not log ago, where you did something like this (in life in general not destiny) where you were SOL. No crying to mommy. No reporting to someone to get your crap back. Straight up "you f"d up, better learn your lesson kid because life ain't fair".
Is it wrong and totally messed up, yes. But ffs such is life. If you let someone into your game and trust a complete stranger unfortunately stuff like this happens. It is the world we live in today. Learn from it and move on.Last edited by Gerg04; 02-22-2015, 07:01 AM.Comment

Re: Destiny
I just ran Crota and saw ANOTHER Dragon's Breath. I swear Bungie is trolling me. Thats 6 DB's for me and witnessed 2 more go out to others in my party in one week. Come on man.
Just ran VoG normal and carried a team of 28s and one 26. Guess who got the Gjallahorn... But at least I got chatterwhite...Last edited by kingkilla56; 02-22-2015, 06:39 PM.Comment

They REALLY want people to have the craps Dark Below exotic weapons. I mean why else would No **** Beyond and DB show up at xur 6 weeks almost back to back.
At least the exotic armors are good for the most part.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Destiny
Have played this game almost every day since release and last night I finally received Gjallahorn. Me and a friend of mine BOTH got it after downing Crota. Speaking of Crota it's kind of a joke how easy he is to beat on hard if he doesn't glitch at all. Still usually only get the helmet from him.The Ohio State University
