    Re: Destiny

One of Destiny The Taken King's quests is exclusive to Red Bull drinkers

The "epic, new quest" is a "never-before-seen, multistage mission in The Taken King that will test the speed and strategic abilities of Destiny players in new ways."

The quest will be exclusive to Red Bull via an access code under the tab of promotional cans that can be entered on the site and requires The Taken King to be able to play. Drinkers will also get a one time consumable Bonus XP buff that will increase XP gain by 50% for 30 minutes and each marked can of caffeine will include a code. The XP boost will be available from the 1st of July, while the quest will be launching with the Taken King on September the 15th.
While the quest will only be exclusive until January 1st 2016 there's no word on Red Bull promotions outside of the US.

Most games don't have a price tag of > $100 and counting. They also aren't as arrogant and blatant about it. Once you add the $40 expansion on top of it, you're looking at $140. That's a lot of money. When you're paying $140, I don't think there should be additional real-life micro transactions to play a missing piece of the game. It just seems crazy.

This isn't taking into account the other stuff that's going on with the game.

The real issue with this is that if this stuff starts gaining more steam, you'll have your base $60 games broken up into pieces that you need to put together like a real life scavenger hunt. Initial products will contain less content and we'll start seeing stories broken up into multiple season passes and/or product promotions. That's going to suck.

Evolve had next to no content initially, and is getting its second season pass. Fortunately, that game is dying. Some would argue, that if you take away the grinding aspect of the game, the original Destiny game didn't have much content either. I know I wasn't satisfied with the main story, but that's just me.

If these codes were on cans of Pepsi or Brisk for example, I may be interested in getting some. Redbull is literally the last thing Id drink while playing video games.

Bungie, you partner with Mountain Dew. Thats the brand you aim for with these type of deals. Noobs.

Sure they do, where have you been the last decade? Acting like Destiny is the first game with dlc and/or expansions is just absurd.

Lol not at all. I understand exactly what you mean tho bro.

It's not just normal DLC that destiny is adding thru these expansions.

It's a whole new gaming experience with tweaks to things that should have been there, or were actually there from the start IE Class Items now have a purpose, you can re-roll armor along with weapons (limited to ONLY weapons in the DLC lol).

Adding additional story pieces to put the basic game together. These should be add-ons to what we already know or WOW factors instead of 'oh by the way this is why this happened' type stuff. Didn't know anything about Trials of Osiris until HoW was actually announced, and now a capture the flag/new crucible modes like we had no idea this stuff was coming, but it's all ideas guys have been asking for since day 1.

BF4 did add new content with their season pass, but we knew when we purchased the season pass what would be in it.

Those who got the Destiny season pass didn't even get what they paid for granted there was no raid in the House of Wolves expansion.

Granted the game was rushed and the selling the rest of it is probably more Activision to max profits than Bungie but whatever the case may be, if it keeps up we'll be in for some extra vanilla games while we have to pay for content that should already be in the game.

I know everyone is "up in arms" over this whole DLC thing, it just really doesn't bother me. I've probably put more hours into this game than any in 10 years and I will pay for more content. I have 2 games on my PS4 that I paid for digital (MKX and Dragon Age) that I haven't even touched, now that was a waste of money. Spending $40 or whatever it is on the TKK for the hours I'll get out of it just doesn't bother me. Is Bungie being a bit arrogant in the whole deal, yes. Did they possibly choose the worst possible person to do interviews about it..yes. But I'll still buy the content.

Luke Smith apologizes, CE content will be available to purchase:

                    https://www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=13090

We’re actively working to make the digital content from the Collector’s Edition available in a $20 upgrade bundle (suggested retail price), available on 9/15/2015. If you purchase a stand-alone version of Destiny: The Taken King, or already have, you'll be able to pick up the digital items as soon as they are available.

So for the same price as the last two expansions, we get a few emotes and class items?

                          Yeeeeaaaahhh, I'll pass.

                          VIP stuff looks ballin though.

I dont think Bungie ever had anything to worry about when it came to selling TTK. Plenty outrage this week but it would have blown over by September and hype around the DLC would have brought players back regardless.

I wonder how Destiny players who pre-ordered the collectors edition for those emotes feel about this new development. I imagine they'll be alot of refunds now that they can buy the bonuses separately. If Luke Smith never gave that interview, nothing would have changed haha. That interview was more of an outrage than the actual pricing/exclusivity of the content.
