It's cool. Got a good group and ended up adding both as friends so it worked out.

That sounds good though. Think my hunters can be ~306 right now. That should be ok until Oryx, right?

And yeah 306 is fine until Oryx, hopefully you'll get some gear to get you to 310+ during the HM fight until Oryx.

A few questions to you experienced bunch: Been grinding as much I can for the month and a half I've had this. At Level 40, 206 Light. I'm Warlock class, Stormcaller Subclass. I have 4,058 in Glimmer, already joined a faction (Dead Orbit). I also have 41 Motes of Light, 19 Strange Coins. What should I be spending these things on?

Another thing, my inventory in the vault is close to being full. Should I should start breaking down weapons, gear etc?

I got Destiny TTK as part of my PS4 bundle, but I haven't had a chance to start it up yet. Will I still be able to have a good time with it even though I'm months late to the party?

Anything that's not legendary or exotic, feel free to break it down. Same goes with anything that's not infusable. You don't need it past 40. For strange coins, I'd just buy 3ofC. Beyond that, just do strikes until you can start doing dailies and weekly strikes. Play a crucible match a day to get Legendary Marks, and buy Hung Jury from dead orbit once you hit rank 3.

Motes are now considered "consumables." You can use them as a method to expedite leveling your weapons and armor. You also need a very small number of them for infusing your gear (increasing the light level of it). You can infuse legendary or exotic gear with rare, legendary, or exotic gear of the same type.

Eventually you'll have more Motes than you really need (I have >300 and that's with spending 100-200 to level gear). You can donate these Motes to your faction to increase your rep, as well. Seeing as how slow leveling factions are now without donations, this may be your avenue to level faster in the future.

As Donkey said, use strange coins on Three of Coins that you can buy from Xur (7 Strange Coins for 5 3OC). Occasionally you'll find he sells a piece of gear worth purchasing, so save a portion of your coins when you can just in case he comes with something you want.

Yes, absolutely. There's a ton more to do now when compared to the original release, and starting from scratch you'll have the whole story to complete, quests, and all that good stuff. If you like it, it will occupy a good portion of your time.

The only part you may have trouble with is the older raids (Vault of Glass and Crota). I know these aren't as popular as they used to be, but I think you could still find people interested or sherpas willing to take you through. I sherpa'd a group through the Vault not long ago and it only took an hour or so.

Got about 30% into the crucible part of the Chaperone quest, used to be 50, but I suck at crucible. I just want it to complete the friggin exotic collection. Its an annoying quest because you can do good, and STILL lose percentages. Lame. Cant wait till its over. I may never do the First Curse quest.

Also imo The Last Word sucks. Havent won a single firefight yet, and thats still just sticking to close quarters engagements with it.

Play Iron Banner and just put the gun on before a win. Last IB I went from 0 to like 63% just doing that until I got to rank 5.

A group of year 1 exotics is being brought to year 2. So far revealed: Nothing Manacles, Armamentarium, MIDA, Plan C, and Dragon's Breath.

Dragon's Breath with Takenout (or whatever it's called) could be awesome. And Armamentarium and Manacles are great in pvp.
