Just because you prefer one thing over another doesn't make the thing a "crutch".

That kind of **** is said waaay too much in gaming nowadays. "I don't like X, so X is a crutch, and I'm so much better than you because I don't like that bull**** crutch X".

Thinking about trading in some games and grabbing this again...played on Ps4 from launch until last August. Will be starting over on Xbox.

The Hunter invis cheese is also very prevalent in inferno.

Nah, once you know the maps, you know where people congregate you can pretty much play a map w/o radar and do just fine. That is the one thing, if you watch the competative guys their eyes rarely go to the radar as they know whey they are doing and where people tend to play from. Sweats are a little different.

Then you look at a casual their eyes are always floating to the left side of the screen checking that radar, making sure they know whats around them.

          Re: Destiny

Yes I know, I play a lot of PvP. I have good map knowledge and know where most people go in situations and I still like the radar.

You can't really compare this game to CoD or BF4 in terms of radar because there are so many differences. People hate blink shotgunners, people hate when hunters go invis and run around, people hate campers. No radar will only amplify a lot of those players and the radar is a good alternative to help counter supers.

You also mentioned the streamers and competitive guys, great. That's the top 1% and almost everyone that plays this game is not competitive. Those guys/girls will beat anyone with or without radar.

Maybe you guys are using radar wrong, I don't sit and stare at it or run around relying on it the whole game. I use it as an addition to sometimes know when to disengage or prepare for what I'm running into.

Still, all of these are just my opinion. You guys talk so matter of fact about it, radar being a "crutch" or no radar being better is definitely not a fact and never will be...but I digress.

Nah it's a crutch. If you spend your whole time staring at your radar, then when you hop in inferno you have no idea how to manage, guess what the crutch is? Having a radar eliminates so many factors of dynamic PvP. But you're so used to it you don't want to think about life without one. That's a crutch.

Don't get uber sensitive because we share different opinions about the radar.

I don't give a ****, I hardly play PvP at all (just Iron Banner), this isn't about the radar this is about you puffing yourself up while trying to put everyone else down.

If you really want to make this exclusively about Destiny, let's consider that. The fact that in Destiny the default is having radar, wouldn't that make not having that radar your crutch? Jim Abbott threw a no hitter with one hand, does that mean having 2 hands is a crutch? All these ****ty 2 handed pitchers with their crutch. No, that would be asinine.

I never gave any hint at my own skill at this game so I don't know where this puffing chest thing is coming from. In fact I've stated how trash I am in PvP in his thread a dozen times. I am also a slave to the radar. It's my crutch as well. So don't play that bull**** card with me. Ive never put myself over anybody ever on this forum. So save that for someone else Burns.

And the radar being default has nothing to do with my comments. The radar fosters a certain type of gameplay, and I consider it a crutch. If you disagree that's fine and dandy. Leave it at that.

A crutch is something you need to be good a game. If anything, over utilization of the radar is a detriment, not a crutch, because it takes your eyes away from the game.

The radar, best used, is to give you some contextual idea of where enemies are at. Nothing more, nothing less.

                    2 questions:

                    1) Any Xbox players that'd be willing to help me out if I started from scratch?

                    2) Is there enough people still playing that it's worth picking up?

My trades will cover the cost. Just making sure people still play.

Crutch implies that someone is disabled and needs that to be "normal". Just because you want it to mean something else, doesn't change the English language.

And, yes, if you say something is a crutch because you prefer it not be there, you are putting anyone that likes it down. Whether you meant to or not is irrelevant, that's what that language implies. I don't like radar, I prefer it not be there, if you think different you are below me because you need something to make you good.

You can not like radar, you can say you prefer no radar, hell you can say radar is a crutch, but that's not going to stop me from calling out exactly what I called out that saying something is a " crutch" is a BS put down that's entirely too prevelant in gaming.

Plenty of people still play, I'd argue that a lot of people came back and probably are playing more since the update came out so its a good time to start.

Not on Xbox but I'm sure some people would help you out. It is totally possible to hit max light level solo though.

I'd lie if I said I wasn't super excited to get back into Destiny.. Played for about a half hour today and I'm stoked.

Just a little worried its gonna take me forever (especially solo) to catch up/get gear etc.

I just got back in and feel like I'm almost leveling and gearing too quickly. I went from 25 to 38 in two nights. I know 95% of the game is played at 40 but I thought it would take me a bit more time to get there. I haven't even touched the taken king stuff yet. Just did two days of bounties.

I just wish i had someone to run with on the way to 40. I'm guessing the LFG is still viable on the webpage for the end game raids.

My first go around I had 2 other real life buddies (on the ps4) that played nightly. I guess I'm just kind of missing than, and hoping its not boring / gruelling starting from the very beginning alone.

I'm looking forward to raids etc but excited to get back into the Crucible as well.
