I was prepared to love this. I was convinced I would pretend there was nothing but rainy days and sleepless nights for the duration of the beta.

Instead, I have been easily distracted from playing.

The game, in its beta state, is a polished, enjoyable, modestly challenging Mass Effect clone. The problem for me personally is I've barely scratched the surface of ME2 and never even bought ME3.

I will probably put this on my Christmas list, or maybe it will be my initial purchase if I decide to get a next gen console. But for now, my backlog and my other activites will be enough to avoid me feeling compelled to buy the retail edition of Destiny.

Its too bad. I've been following this game for a long time and pre-ordered almost the day it was available to do so. I think my indifference is more an indictment of my gaming enthusiasm than the game itself.

That it is not.

Similarities sure, but an mmo can't really ever be a clone of a single player rpg.

This crazy enemy is close to where the door above is. It makes crazy sounds and shoots purple stuff all over:

As I said in the "2014 gaming outlook" thread, this game will take up most of my time this year when it finally drops. Despite the closed off nature and repetitiveness of the alpha and beta, I am having an absolute blast. Thing is, the full game will open things up so much more with mission and location variety, not to mention not maxing your level out so fast.

I'm really looking forward to the raids that Bungie outlined a few months ago. I believe they said it would be teams of 6 doing missions similar to the strike missions, but with a higher difficulty and better loot to be had. The strike mission in the beta (which is the same strike that was in the alpha) is quite fun with a good group of people. Me and two other randoms wound up taking down the devil walker rather quickly with solid teamwork. I was proud of myself, as I actually led the team in kills, revives, and fewest deaths. I friggen love the Warlock.

Here is my best game so far in MP, points wise. I just love the frantic nature of the action. I probably played the most video games I have in months since the beta has dropped. Select 1080p for best viewing.

It is in the middle of the earth map when you are traveling.
