    Re: Destiny

Welp, got up to the final boss after running a fresh raid with my Titan last night. Got the raid chest piece, two more shotguns (one in every element now after two runs), and a 365 artifact.

I know it's brand new, but I'm loving this raid. It still requires communication, but it's not so overly stressful because of the length. I really did enjoy Oryx because of the scale and some of the mechanics, but I rarely had time to squeeze in a full raid with my buddies. This one feels grand enough in scale while being brief enough to run through in a fairly short amount of time.

We just all need to clear 371. The final boss section was destroying us, so we didn't even really bother trying that hard.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I'm right around 366 on my Hunter(s) and Warlock. Need to be at 370 for the boss fight I feel. The DPS for the last park is killer. Got there on every character, never got closer than him having 60% health left.

        Re: Destiny

This game can be so frustrating at times. I'm stuck at 364 because I can't get a damn artifact above 358. I've tried Eris and didn't get an artifact. I got that 358 artifact from a strike chest, but I've used four keys since and no new artifact nor any new keys. The only thing I haven't done yet is the nightfall and perhaps I should, but I don't believe these drop guaranteed artifacts, either (perhaps none at all)?

Feels like they've done it this way just to annoy people.

that is better than being stuck at 353. every blue and purple drop in the heroic strikes drop at same level or lower for me. haven't improved in about 3 days.

Edit: just opened 12 Legendary engrams on my 253 character after a lot of patrolling and Archon Forge rounds. none were an improvement. my RNG sucks it seems.

The light grind is garbage. Not something I expected from the SRL team. This is some Vanilla destiny A team grindfest.

Wonder how Iron Banner and Trials will look for people who didn't no life/exploit their light to 400.

You're better off using blue drops from strikes for leveling. Vendor packages are the second best alternative, but you have to be careful about using engrams because you need to improve specific pieces of gear. Only use engrams when the piece of gear you need to improve is at or preferably below your current light level.

Also for vendor packages, your best bet is selecting the type of gear that is underleveled. It seems the system favors giving out gear at your lowest light (i.e. my heavy weapon was my lowest-light item, selecting a weapons package got me a heavy weapon at or above my total current light). This happened a number of times for me so I have to believe it was on purpose.

As an example re: engrams, if your TOTAL light is 353 and you have a Helmet that is 354 light, DON'T decrypt any helmet engrams until your total light is at least 354 (though ideally you'd wait until it is 355 or more). Each engram counts against your current total light, but it only has a 50/50 chance (I believe) of being higher, meaning it could come out to be your current total light.

So if you're 353 but have a 351 primary, you'd be okay decrypting a primary engram. It will be at least 353 if not higher. Basically you'll want to save engrams until you need them for an under-leveled piece of gear.

Blues from heroic strikes should (in theory) always drop at least one factor higher than your current light level, but it seems they tend to vary between 1 and 4 points higher. Only once for me did a blue drop at my same light level, and that was at 364. Apparently it gets better once you hit 355 for whatever reason.

Also once you hit 359/360, you can infuse a legendary with a higher light blue and you get a +1 light boost. Say you have a 362 blue sniper and a 354 legendary sniper, infuse the latter with the former and the sniper should become 363. I'm not sure why this happens but it definitely wasn't random for me once I hit 360. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to get gear to 365, as I tried to get a 364 chest piece up one but it didn't get the bonus.

If strike blues really aren't dropping higher than your total light, that would be very surprising for me. I guess keep trying; it should happen eventually.

most of my gear on my hunter is 254 or 253, except my artifact is 252 and class is 255

my Warlock and titan are in similar situations, although a bit lower light lever for armor as I don't play them they that much, just mostly the bounties, been using the blues that were too low for my hunter.

with my highest light gear on
                  primary 354
                  secondary 353
                  heavy 353
                  ghost 355
                  helmet 354
                  gloves 353
                  chest 354
                  boots 354
                  class 355
                  artifact 352

                  overall 353, 3/4 to 354

                    Rumors about Destiny 2

Also, separate info from a reputable source on neogaf:

Yea, it's coming to PC. From what I'm told the decision to restructure was made thanks to a major memory ceiling being reached on last gen with regard to the Rise of Iron expansion, which was set to launch in the spring, not fall. Bungie decided to push out D2 since it was behind and needed much more iteration, and took advantage of the Rise of Iron delays to use that as the content stop gap for the fall of this year.

Destiny 2 is being overhauled so that they can build upon it in the future without having to work within the frame work limitations that D1 setup. Right now, the way things play out, they have to introduce playspaces so that players can engage in systems or activities, but it creates a huge barrier that must be overcome on both the networking & design side so, they're going to do more open playspaces that incorporate towns, outposts, etc into more common areas. This means fewer hardlines for areas and having them be gated by menus. Goal is to have players conducting things & making activity decisions while still in control of their character, instead of having to exit out into an activity hub. Think of how in WoW, you hit a button and queue into activities you want to do all while still playing your character.

Major narrative changes are on board for D2. Both in terms of plot direction, pacing & structure. Major focus is going to be on the Cabal & Saturn. Saturn is a playspace is set to be bigger than all of the playspaces currently implemented in the game combined. This is in large part of the scale of playspaces being redesigned, so it'll be both bigger & denser with activities. There's a reason Guardians take the fight to Saturn.

Major changes to the engine are occurring. Their render tech has gone through some major iteration thanks in large part to getting to approach it without having last-gen as a limit. Because of this, they are still undecided what, if any, of Destiny's old content, both in terms of playspace, areas, Strikes & raids, will be available through D2. There is talk in possibly allowing D1 remain as its own client, which flies against how Destiny currently operates, where as the new content renders the old client & content obsolete.

Live team has been going through some iteration so that they may continue to support Destiny with content after a major content drop, but they are stuck between a rock & a hard place. The live team is trying to support a game running on an old engine with its older tools, whereas the bulk of development is on the engine framework & enjoying new tools. Because of this, the Live team is largely handcuffed, so don't really expect a whole lot of post-launch content for D1 in the next year.

However, starting with the launch of D2, we will see far more substantial content dropping in the time between yearly releases, as the game & engine & live team have all been planned to support that going forward. Team is aware that they need more substantial content throughout the year, not just at the end of it.

If they do drop D1 content, it likely won't be permanent - they might reintroduce areas in a more 'D2' fleshed out way. So we might lose temporary access to these places, then regain it or have to fight back for control of it at a later point in the plot. This means we'll get to see older areas or activities through the perspective of the newer content, which also means the older areas might expand considerably by the time we get back to them, since the design goal for playspaces is to now make them both way bigger & way denser with activities.

Edit: New races & factions are planned. No idea on whats happening with regards to classes however. New enemies within factions are also going to be introduced. Take the Psions for the Cabal for example - they are going to get fleshed out in D2.

The light grind is really easy, not sure what you're talking about. Some people seem to have some bad RNG on here, otherwise getting up higher is quite easy and quick IMO.

Must be playing different games. Or our tolerance for incredibly repetitive activities are vastly different.

Also if Destiny 2 comes out on PC. RIP console guardians.

It's really not that repetitive considering how many ways there are to level up.

I wouldn't really say RIP to console guardians either, look at Overwatch...that's very popular on consoles still even with it being on PC.

                          Anyway, good luck leveling up.

Overwatch is very popular on consoles? Relative to PC Overwatch, it's a fart in the wind. Bungie allowing migration of accounts from console to PC for D2 will be the death knell.

Yeah, I'm not seeing how the leveling is so bad. I ran heroics starting at around 345-350 and it was a steady stream of upgraded blues to either wear or infuse. Crucible has been dropping higher light legendary weapons like crazy. Faction packages are providing consistent upgrades. The raid provides numerous upgrades. The first nightfall I ran today dropped me 370 gloves and I'm a 366.

Not sure where the issue is coming from. Everyone I play with is leveling at the same speed by just playing the game.

And yeah, thinking that going to PC will be the end of Destiny on consoles is laughable.

I think a lot of streamers will continue to play on consoles rather than on PC but I guess we'll see.
