Re: Destiny
I liked the gameplay. Its very smooth and fluid. The maps themselves, while beautiful (loved the moon), didn't feel too different as far as the gameplay goes. Like others I was hoping for gravity and atmospheric differences. Maybe that'll be in the final?
Its definitely on my radar now, but I'll wait for impressions to see if some of my concerns/wants are addressed.

Re: Destiny
After putting 2 and 2 together and actually understanding the game, I think the game is almost a must have. My only issues were map variety and mission variety. The side missions where you pick up a beacon and get mission directives I think need more variety. When you've cleared out an area as a part of the main mission then the side mission asks you to do it over with the same enemies, rather repetitive.
Overall though, I'm getting this game after finally understanding stuff I'm really excited about it.Comment

Re: Destiny
Am I misremembering the alpha or were there 3 difficulty levels for the strike? If there were 5 or 6 difficulties per level and you got increased XP for them, it seems like the replay value would go up significantly. Either way, I'm very excited for this game. Hopefully I'll be able to get better at Crucible, as I got absolutely crushed during this beta.St. Louis Blues

Re: Destiny
So what's this game's sell? It's the multiplayer aspect, right?
I don't know too much about this game in particular, but the small clips I have seen doesn't show that the graphics are going to be one of the biggest sell points if that makes sense.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Destiny
I didn't play the alpha but while playing the beta one of my friends did mention it had 3 difficulty options. Some of the people complaining of zero replayability apparently didn't realize you could change this in the beta.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: Destiny
For me it's the competitive multiplayer, for others it's the cooperative play, it has something for everyone really.

Re: Destiny
I only messed around with the Hunter class in the beta and enjoyed that. However, I think I'm going to roll with a Titan on release day. My co-worker friend and I have been chatting about the beta since this morning. The withdrawal is real.XBL: Mean Greene

Re: Destiny
smart of them to put the beta out for all xbox1 gold members, I would never have got a taste otherwise, and I went from being a 100% no to a 50/50
The shooting and controls are really tight which is so important for a shooter, I didn't do any competitive mp only single player missions and only made it to level 3. Coop would be awesome, but all my bud's dropped off the face of the earth or have ps4 or didn't go next gen.
It's not really my type of game, but if it proves to be good enough it could get me to buy anyway.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Destiny
I'm gonna have to agree with you. I was skeptical after my first hour or so of gameplay. I said to myself "wow they decided to make another halo style game that isn't even better than halo." I went around doing various missions by myself hoping players would join in but most went around doing their own thing. After putting 2 and 2 together and actually understanding the game, I think the game is almost a must have. My only issues were map variety and mission variety. The side missions where you pick up a beacon and get mission directives I think need more variety. It wasn't until this group of guys saw me trying to kill that invincible monster on the side of the cliff is when I started seeing what this game truly has to offer. They told me i couldn't kill him (i had figured that out after being killed by him several times) and went on to distract him as I went through from behind to collect my first piece of loot. We did a few missions together and kept finding loot chest after loot chest. I was truly having fun with the game... until...
....A public event happened. The sky turned black and meteors came down. I was blown away. People came from all over the map to see what the hell just happened. It was a thing of beauty to see 6 or 7 of us all stopped what we were doing and take part in this random battle. After that I was sold.
Like you said, as long as we see more variety in missions and things like random events (I only played one and hope they are not a common occurrence) this game will truly be something special.Last edited by johnnyg713; 07-28-2014, 10:57 AM.Comment

Re: Destiny
From my experience in both the alpha and the beta they aren't that common, but can be a lot of fun. I do wish the beta had allowed me to see recently met players through PSN. There were some impromptu groups that were formed out of these events that were fun to play with, but I didn't realize that support wasn't available and didn't write down their names.St. Louis Blues

Re: Destiny
Sure. My question really though is what is Bungie doing to make this "the Halo of next-generation," even if it's nothing more than bringing PlayStation customers to them?
I mean they revealed this at E3 last year, and they have been out of the woodwork for a little bit (plus this alpha and beta), which lends me to believe this is as "must own" as any FPS out there. Is that so, or is this really just an okay title?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
