If you're a true RPG fan I recommend them, they released the updated version of it recently and heard good things about it. Icewind Dale was better due to the party creation, but those were quality RPGs

Played the Baldur Gate games but never touched Neverwinter Nights or Icewind Dale. One day...

I thing I played one of them but my old CPU was not good enough and it kept crashing.

Dark Alliance/Dark Alliance 2 - XBOX - Awesome hack n Slash from the Baulders Gate series but for console gaming. Great games.

Dragon Age Origins - Probably the best voice acting and characters I have ever played as far as a old school turn based RPG. Great game. DA 2 not nearly as fun IMO. Good but not in the same league at all.

I need to check out Dragons Dogma and The Witcher 2 down the road.

I have had Demons Souls starting at me for a loooong time. I played about 4-5 hours and put it down. It demands your full attention. Very hard and unforgiving but really cool. I will finish that game one day.
Dragon's Dogma was a great game, it was the game I played all summer.

As for Demon's Souls, how bout some Jolly Cooperation? I've never finished DeS, and it's so hard to find co-op there these days compared to DkS.

Which one is better? 1 or 2 and do you need to play 1 before 2.

I personally liked FFXII more than FFX.

Re: Good RPGS on PC, 360, PS3, PSN and XBLA.

I find it hard to differentiate between which FF game was better since they are so different, but I do have XII right there at the top tier.

Other games I haven't seen listed that have turn based combat:

                        Fallout 1&2, Arcanum
Both Krondor games (first one especially might be a bit dated now, but still great)
Septerra Core (often overlooked, it's a JRPG style game made for PC by an American company)

And if you are going to play Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale, you have to play Planescape Torment, the best of the Infinity Engine games.

I would also be remiss if I posted in an RPG thread and didn't bring up Ultima VII, possibly my favorite game of all time (although it's nothing like your original framework you were looking for).

I played it for the first time only a year ago and loved it. It ranks near the top for me compared to other FF games. FFXII has amazing world building, sets a new standard for localization and voice work in the series, mature political and revenge plot, tons of content, open exploration, flexible and deep systems, and Balthier!

It's like the polar opposite of XIII, which going from that to XII was eye-opening to say the least.

Watched a couple of videos and now I'm definitely contemplating picking up XII. Never played a final fantasy game before.

Not well. Graphics are very dated, extremely pixelated. Voice over work was good for the time, but doesn't flow well. Gameplay is good, but again, graphics are horrid by today's standard. Bought the game and played all of 5 minutes. I wouldn't recommend it.

Well that's the thing nobody is going to play those games today for the Graphics, it's more of that there are basically 0 games made today in the combat system of those games.
