As for one game you should get................HALO!!!!!!!!

If you have a broadband connection, I would also suggest Xbox Live.

How much is a new XBOX, by it self, w/ no games? BTW, I don't need memory cards correct, I can save to hard-drive? Speaking of the hard-drive, can I save music to it also?

I don't believe you can buy it new without any games. It comes bundled with Clone Wars and Tetris Worlds for $179.99. And for what its worth, I like the S-controller better than the PS2 controller.

Has anybody played LOTR: Return of the King for XBOX? Any impressions?

Same here, I think the reason I like the S more is the analog stick stiffness/placement and the triggers. Great for shooters and racing games.

I suggest trying out Metal Arms: Glitch in the System, such a great game that nobody seems to talk about. It's like 3rd person Halo with little robots who swear.

My favorites from 03(in no particular order):

                  Freedom Fighters*
                  Deus Ex
                  PGR 2
                  Kotor
                  True Crimes*
                  Soul Cal 2
                  Mech Assault
                  Burnout 2
                  Max Payne 2*

                  Rainbow Six 3
                  GTA Combo

I also heard great things about Beyond Good and Evil, that its as good as Zelda; Windwalker, but I won't have that until tommorrow so I can't say.

And here's a few classics that you can find real cheap:

                  Halo
Otogi(best game no one's heard of, sleeper hit)
                  Dead to rights*
                  Hitman
                  Indiana Jones
                  DOA

These are all non-sports, as you can already find tons of sport game info on this site. Hope this helps

*Suggested rental, can be finished in 3 days.

From what I've heard, each one is better than the last. Return of the King is suppossed to be really well done, The Two Towers is pretty good and the Fellowship is decent. I know people who have rented them, I'm not sure if they are worth buying since the games usually didn't keep their interest all 5 days of the rental, but they definitely had fun for a few days.

And if you're getting an Xbox, you must get Halo. I think it's a rule. It's the best game on the system(best game on any system in many people's opinion). It just dropped to $30 new, the single player is worth it but if you know people with xbox who you can link up and play multiplayer(it's not on xbox Live, you will have to do actual system link) or if you have siblings who will play, the multiplayer Halo is the most fun you'll have. I never played shooters very much, but I've spent more time playing Halo than all my other xbox games combined. It's also the only xbox game I've owned for more than a year.
