Re: The Witcher 3
OK guys I just finished my first play thru. Kind of rushed the end because the wife wanted to see the ending as she has caught most of the main story. Total play time about 110/120 hours.
I have already started another play through and the goal of this one is 100% completion of everything. Read every book, do every quest, see every ?, travel every square inch of this wonderful game.
I am going to keep a log of time played just for my own amusement since the in game counter doesn't seem to work reliably.
Honestly this, for me, is THE best game I have ever played. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Hearing a lot of 'best game I ever played' statements in this thread. I love it.
Only played 1 hr and I can see it's going to be unreal.

Re: The Witcher 3
Hearts of Stones previews:
Gamespot
Hearts of Stone, The Witcher 3's first paid expansion, bolsters a game that didn't need any help to begin with. But as with the rest of CD Projekt Red's massive RPG, the new content is well written, well paced, and replete with vibrant characters offering nuanced quests. I'm hesitant to detail my journey too much, as spoilers would ruin its impact--but this expansion seems to have it all: backstabbing, political intrigue, and even comic relief.
There's also another romance to pursue with a character old Witcher-game fans will recognise, and doing so doesn't affect your relationship with Yennefer or Triss - it's guilt-free in that regard. And when these stories warm up, Hearts really gets going. This is CD Projekt Red relaxing after the serious work of the main game, playing around with what you think you know about how certain characters behave, particularly Geralt. At points, Hearts hits genuinely funny notes.
While Hearts of Stone doesn't add many new mechanics or new locations (as the second expansion Blood and Wine will), it gives players a fat second helping of the excellent exploration and character-based storytelling that made Wild Hunt so enjoyable. While it's been teased that the expansion's story will last around ten hours, it's clear that invested players can expect to spend much more than that finding everything that will be on offer.
“A lot of people mention the Bloody Baron quest,” Bury says with a grin. “Hearts of Stone is sort of like that.” That’s a statement CD Projekt know is likely to please, but he then goes on to elaborate.
“If you take one of those quests, people tend to usually play that one quest through and follow that thread in a more linear way, start-to-finish. That’s sort of how the expansion feels to me; you get caught up in its core story and go through the different sections. I know that the first time I played it, I ended up ignoring a lot of the side stuff because I was just hooked into finding out what happens next. It was good, as I managed to not spoil the actual story for myself beyond the specific pieces I worked on. I actually got to play it properly!”
Hearts of Stone looks to be an essential new chapter in the life of the eponymous Witcher, and potentially one of the most memorable. It is a testament to CD Projekt’s talent that it has created DLC which fundamentally changes the tone of their game – which is known primarily for its violence, sex and Serious Themes – to something more akin to a swashbuckling romp, with loads of jokes and that. A medieval Ballad of Gay Tony, if you will.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
