For me, I'm just going to keep going along even if I miss out on some XP. As long as I'm still leveling up at a fair rate as I go along, I'm OK with it. If it gets to a point where I'm not, then I'll put it down. Game is just too much fun to stop playing at this moment.

Plus, I leave Sunday morning for a work trip, so I need to get my fix in while I can tonight and tomorrow...

I don't think I'm suffering from the bug, but honestly, I could live without a little XP as I'm feeling a little too comfortable right now. I was going to up the difficulty, but I'll see where I sit next week when the patch drops.

Don't get me wrong, I still died even a few times last night so it's definitely not too easy. I just get in phases where I just absolutely mop the floor with enemies 2-4 levels higher than me...

But still manage to get roasted against a swarm of drowners 3 levels below my Geralt. There had to be like 10 of those ****ers and I was dead within seconds. LOL!

How is the third hardest difficulty? Will I notice a huge difference or does it play pretty well?

Blood and Broken Bones? That is what I have played on so far and I'm level 13 and just made it to Novigrad (to give you an idea of how much and how I've played). I felt it was difficult but not hair pulling difficult. Similar to your downer story the same thing will happen to you with a group of a little as 3 of them will do that to you if you aren't able to crowd control while dodging. Some spots were insanely difficult to me and required repeated attempts which never felt frustrating because I could always reconcile what I had done to result in the death rather than a poor game mechanic.

Contemplating bumping up to Death March since as I have started further down the upgrade tree I'm starting to feel a bit more overpowered this early in the game. Going to give that a quest or two though since I have thought that in the past after running through things only to be overwhelmed by enemies that I should have been able to handle.

I have tried to read through the 100+ pages, but couldn't find a user review of the game. I have never played the Wicker series, but do like the looks of it. I am a big Skyrim fan and this seems to be similar. Aside from any bugs, how is the story and flow of the game? Does it have a lot of replay value or do the choices you make via dialog not matter much?

This is the best game i've played since The Last of Us was released on PS3. Everytime I turn it off im excited to get back in and play some more of it.

Witcher 3 in May and Batman AK in June what a summer line-up!

I feel the same way about the XP as you. I've been touring Velen and clearing as much as I can. I'm currently level 12 and the next main mission is a suggested level 6 so I'm well ahead of the curve with the main story. I could understand the bug being a bigger problem if I was simply doing select side quests and the main quest. As is there's more than enough opportunities to advance Geralt's abilities.

Drowners and nekkers still give me the most trouble because they swarm and are fairly quick with their slashes and leaps. I started on Blood and Broken Bones and have gotten used to it so I don't know how it compares, but the biggest difference is the fact that health doesn't regenerate simply by meditating. Still, swallow is fairly quick and you find more than enough alcohol and food to stay full.

I'm curious how Death March is because B&BB is very manageable so long as you don't get overtly cocky. I can roll without Quen on a regular basis while roaming the land unless the group of bandits is closer to 10. I'm sure DM would require use of potions and oils more.

For me, this blow Skyrim out of the water. The world is vibrant and lived in. The lighting from the sun is as lifelike as I have seen in any game and the weather system is dynamic and amazing. The stories for each quest is compelling and interesting. I have run into more interesting characters at the start of the game than all my time in Skyrim. The decision making process makes the Mass Effect series look like a paint-by-number book.

FAM,

Impressions so far:

• Incredible game. It's shaping up to be an all-time favorite for me. If it continues like this I can mention it in the same breath as Red Dead Redemption and Dragon Age Origins, SWKOTR.
  
• Decisions in a side quest in this game probably carries more consequences then anything you did in Skyrim. I poured hours into Skyrim too.
  
• Replay value is very high. Like previous Witcher games your decisions early in the game may effect which missions you get and how they play out. Side quests also effect main story in ways that may or may not show itself immediately.
  
• To emphasize how deep the story is, most of the spoiler discussion we have had with this game is from a couple of side quests and really the first leg of the Main Quest. Just that hand full of mission has left a impression on me.
  
• The story is very mature. The stuff you deal with has layers of depth to the situation. And those situations are not standard RPG quests. The facial expressions sell the desperate situation this world is in.

There are some things that need cleaning up. Combat in Close Quarters, Movement, Inventory UI, bugs, swimming controls, etc. but in the big picture it's not enough to not recommend the game.

I honestly think this is a can't miss game. I also think Vanilla Skyrim doesn't hold a candle to this game.

The drowners and nekkers give me more trouble than almost any other enemy.

Their forwards jumping attack covers the distance of a backwards dodge and it seems like they can adjust mid-side dodge sometimes and hit me where I end up. Also, am I doing something wrong or are some melee attacks unblockable/can't be parried?

I moved up to Blood and Broken Bones around level 4, now I'm lvl 15 and I don't regret it. Much better experience for me. It's not hair pulling hard, it just makes you think and be cautious, as well as manage your inventory.

I would say this game takes the best parts of Skyrim and Mass Effect and then mixes those in with its own unique appeal.

I remember in the tutorial or something somewhere said to parry human attacks but dodge monster attacks.

And yeah the drowners definitely have an attack that goes through a parry.

But it at least allows you to eat something if you're about to die.

I love the variety of enemies and how each one has its own personality. A lot of games like this you get skeleton and then scarier skeleton that's a different color.

I also like when you do face higher enemies they don't simply one hit you, though they can. They do a better job of parrying your attacks and exploiting your weaknesses as opposed to only being stronger. They're also smarter.

I used a potion of clearance and went for the secondary quen shield, it so awesome, you guys were right
