You make a good point. I haven't played a single PS1 game since I got my PS2 a year and a half ago. But, it's still nice to have that feature there if I ever wanted to.

I agree, it's not necessary, but it sure is nice. I mean, once you get the console, you can play all the games you had before without having to buy new ones. I think it's a pretty cool feature.

Backwards Compatability is also a great feautre if you will/won't ever own an XBox. That way you could play all the xbox games you missed out on without having to buy an XBox.

I disagree 100 percent unless there's a quantum leap in processing power between the Xbox and Xbox 2. Remember, the PSX was a 32-bit machine; the PS2 was a 128-bit machine. Four times as powerful, so the PS2 games looked so much better.

I doubt we'll see that kind of leap with Xbox 2, so reverse compatibility seemingly is a bigger hook. Maybe MS does have some real graphical power or special features up its sleeve for Xbox 2.
