Re: True Crime (Streets of LA) ?

The street names, and the layout of the city is VERY realistic. My dad (UCLA alum) told me how to get to UCLA (in Westwood) from where I was (I forget where I was, I think it was Downtown L.A.) and the streets were right and I was able to drive up to UCLA (they had it closed off, probably something asked for by the University seeing how they wouldn't want their college involved in a game like it, but it is there.).

I thought that was pretty cool in itself. The game is very fun, very addicting, the driving is very fun in this game, alot more control over cars then in GTA.

I'd recommend it, you may want to rent it first though.

Are the controls easy to use or should I say easy to get used to?

Yeah they are easy enough. I didn't like the way you had to pull the right trigger (Xbox) to pull out your gun, then pull it again to shoot. Sometimes it didn't seem to work.
The car controls fine, not as loose and easy as GTA, but good enough. The third person controls are ok. You can kick and punch and there are button combo's like press in the left trigger and press a button to cuff the criminals and such. It's not perfectly smooth to control, but not bad by any means. You can get used to it quick enough.

I didn't like the game that much, but I had the most fun when I chose to be a bad cop
It was fun to walk the streets and shoot out the car tires. You actually see tire deflate and the car lowered to that corner where you shot. Popping guys through the windscreen to see them drop dead on the wheel then fall out the door was strangely fun too

            Have fun!

don't ever get into law enforcement Admiral

it looks good on the videos, so I'm wondering if the game plays as well as it looks.

Hehe! I think you can fire a warning shot with a certain button combo too and flash your badge with another.
If you like the look of it, it's worth a go. The controls aren't perfect but I would say they are ok. I don't like the control in the missions where they make you sneak around inside a building and back up against the walls, but the rest is good enough.

How long does it take to beat this game? Is it more of a rental or is it purchase worthy?
