Does it matter if I play the old blood before the new order? Will it mess up the story?

Wolfenstein - The New Order
I’ve not finished this game yet but that control room part on the u-boat mission is hard on “bring em on” lol
Finished it in this trip on maybe 7 tried. The first time I was playing through this game before starting over, that part made me quit for months because I died so many times. lol

Re: Wolfenstein - The New Order
Finally finished TNO earlier this week or was it late last week/weekend. Either way, I didn’t realize that I made the game harder for myself than it should’ve been.
Don’t laugh but I really didn’t think much of the bars in the top right for “signal” until 3 chapters into TOB. Once realizing that by taking out those guys first you avoid the waves and waves of Nazis, the game became much less frustrating in spots.
I’m such a dunce. How did I play this whole game and not know/realize that and not google or ask about it.

Re: Wolfenstein - The New Order
This question's going to be out there, but could New Order still be fun to play for someone who's never touched the series before? I was always intrigued by the concept of the story and I've been grasping at straws as to what games to dive into during the pandemic. I've loved games like RDR2 and Bioshock so I'm looking for something that fits one of those types of voids.Comment

Definitely recommend it. I was in the same boat and it ended being one of my personal favorites.
I really need to play through the original BioShock again. Fantastic game.

Re: Wolfenstein - The New Order
Wolfenstein: The New Order is a great FPS. I really enjoyed it years ago and have played every game in the series this generation.
For me, it's Wolfenstein: The New Order > The New Colossus > The Old Blood > Youngblood. Hope you enjoy whichever ones you play.Comment

Either way, I think I wanted to be pushed to make the purchase so I'll use the feedback I received here to justify giving it a shot. I admit I'm pretty intrigued by The New Order's storyline.Comment

Re: Wolfenstein - The New Order
So, generally speaking, the quality seems to trend downward as the games go on, would that be an accurate assessment? Is Youngblood an outlier here in terms of quality?

For Wolfenstein TNC and TOB, it's not that the quality goes down, it's that they made some weird story decisions in Colossus which turned me off. The gameplay and shooting is still great. The Old Blood game wise is part 1 and part 2 instead of chapters and part 1 is great but part 2 goes in a direction that I didn't like and turned me off. As for Youngblood, I rated it a 7.0/10 out of respect and just for the hell of it but that could be pushing it because the story, characters, writing, dialogue, etc. is literally cringe worthy.
New Order in my opinion is the best of the four games and I rated it an 8.5/10, Colossus 8.0/10, Old Blood 7.5/10 and Youngblood 7.0/10. Both Colossus and Old Blood would have been a half point higher if they didn't do the things that turned me off because they are good to great. I just didn't like the decisions made.
TNO, TNC and TOB are $20 each retail and for that price, I would say that they're all worth it but if you can get them cheaper, even better. Youngblood is worth $10 at best in my opinion. Outside of Youngblood which was disappointing and not worth $30 at launch, the other three are worth playing through in my opinion.
Especially since you may actually like what I didn't like. I would say start with New Order since that was the first one and if you like it, move on to Old Blood and then Colossus. TNO > TOB > TNC > YB is the order they should be played due to the story and characters.Comment

Re: Wolfenstein - The New Order
That's real good. $8.50 each, you can't go wrong. And it's the first two games in order so you're good to play them both.Comment
