Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

After starting Bioshock Infinite the other day and not being wowed by it so far, I realized I've quit a ton of single player campaigns this generation. I wasn't always this way, I used to trudge through every game I picked up even if it wasn't that great. Nowadays though, I'd rather just not waste my precious time and move on to something else that I could be enjoying. I'm mostly a sports gamer, but I love when I can find gems outside of that genre that inspire to complete them in full. The lastest Tomb Raider was one that I enjoyed thoroughly.

Below is a list of games that I just stopped playing for whatever reason. Most of them weren't horrible, but they didn't keep my interest enough to keep going. I just listed retail titles, I didn't include any arcade games. I'm curious what some of your lists look like. Do you play every game to completion or do you have a list of games that you quit playing too?

    XCOM: Enemy Unknown
    Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
    Max Payne 3
Splinter Cell Conviction (I still own this, I'm determined to finish it one day)
    Far Cry 3
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3
    Call of Duty Black Ops
Call of Duty Black Ops 2
Halo 4 (Never started the campaign)
    Mass Effect 3
Ghost Recon Future Soldier (Never started the campaign)
    The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts
    Hitman Absolution
    Sniper Elite V2
    Skyrim
    Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
    Gears of War 3
    Catherine
    Enslaved
    Red Dead Redemption
    LA Noire
    Dragon Age 2
    Alan Wake
    Alpha Protocol
    Fallout 3
    Fallout New Vegas
    Final Fantasy XIII
    Borderlands 2
    GTA 4 (Completed LATD though)
    Wheelman
    Godfather II
    Ghostbusters
    Tales of Vesperia
    Battlefield: Bad Company
    Dark Sector
    Dead Space
    Silent Hill Homecoming
    Mercanaries 2
    Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X
    Ninja Gaiden 2
    Assassin's Creed
    Stranglehold

Re: Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

I do not play many single player games these days. I think it's because I'm not big on renting so I only buy what I'm almost certain I'll thoroughly enjoy. Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption are on a short list of single player games I acquired and completed (100% for RDR, finished storyline for GTA IV).

That said, my little brothers seem to have a solid stock of games so sometimes that allows me to branch out into areas I would have never touched otherwise. I borrowed their BioShock Infinite and was actually blown away with how easily I became immersed in that world and story. I finished that game twice over the past month.

On the flip side, I couldn't get into the Assassin's Creed I borrowed from my bro's. It seemed to have a lot of unskippable dialogue and downtime. So that'd be one I didn't finish. And most recently, I began playing the first Bioshock and thought about not finishing because I wasn't really as enamored as I was with Infinite, but I think I'm going to power through.

So I guess of the few games I play, Assassin's Creed is the one right now that I just couldn't make happen.

      Pretty much all of them.

I primarily play sports games, but back on the PS1 I'd buy non-sports games and then never finish them. I think the original Resident Evil and Final Fantasy VII are the only ones I beat.

I recently got back into playing some non-sports games. I did finish BioShock Infinite, but I've still got Tomb Raider and the Batman games to go. I guess technically I've still got the Modern Warfare games too, but I got those primarily to play online with friends.

I always eventually finish one I start, but I'm bad about setting it to the side for another game that peaks my interest. For example, Max Payne 3 has been on the side line for almost a year now, but I will eventually get to it and finish it.

I probably couldn't tell you the last game that I finished this generation, which is in stark contrast from PS2/Xbox generation. Granted I also got older and less time so I just stuck with more sports games.

Re: Single Player Campaigns That You Didn't Finish

Went through my games that I have stacked up that were started and not finished thus far, many of which are good games.

Assassin's Creed 3 DLC - Tyranny of King George
                      Castlevania - Lords of Shadow
                      Darksiders II
                      Game of Thrones
Grand Theft Auto IV (not sure I'll ever finish this one)
                      Max Payne 3
                      Resident Evil 6
                      Spiderman - Shattered Dimensions
                      Warhamer 40,000 - Space Marines

                      This list makes me sad...

This is a good thread because I trudged into the same mess about a year and a half ago, but sports games have grown stale to me and not been as innovative as the non-sports genre so I have pushed aside sports games and have gone more action/adventure, rpg, etc.

I couldn't be happier w/ switch from sports games to non-sports games. Not worrying about roster mngmt and questionable AI is a burden lifted and now my gaming time is spent actually playing immersive games rather than managing all 30 teams in an association or franchise because the AI can't do it.

I have shortened my list of campaigns I need to complete down to:

                        Far Cry 3
                        Sleeping Dogs
                        GTAIV
                        Capn America
                        Hulk
                        Thor
                        I am alive
                        Mark of the Ninja
                        Dead Island Riptide

I never finished Dragon Age 1 or 2. I just got burned out on the sameness of the games.

I didnt finish ME3 either. I just got bored. Loved the first two though. Bioware just wares on me.

I can't think of a time when I have not finished a single player campaign this gen. When I spend money on a game I feel like I want to get my money's worth, and usually always finish the single player before ever jumping into the multiplayer. With Assassin's Creed 3 I beat the single player, but never touched the multiplayer. I could never see myself just skipping the single player altogether. These days I usually only by games that I am highly interested in, so maybe that is why I usually finish the single player in all the games I buy.

Almost all of the SP games I've picked up this gen. Most notably the newest AC. Main character is so horrible I had turn turn it off. Also FFXIII because it was lolbad.

Infinite was the first console game I've finished (that I remember) in years.
