    Anyone Miss WWII Shooters?

I'm personally so sick of modern shooters... to me they're just dull and lifeless. I like using the iconic WWII guns which seem to be a lot more fun to me. I've been playing 1943, Hell's Highway, WaW and COD 3 but I wish there was a new one. Anybody hoping for some good WWII shooters on the new consoles?

    No.

Same thing was said about WWII until COD4 came out.

I want more variety. That's the big fix.

      No

I figured I must have killed close to a billion Nazis in games.

I prefer modern times. All they need to do now is just change up the locations. Give me some snow or jungle bases. Some missions in a rain storm, snow storm. More stealth, less Michael Bay. Also get rid of all chase missions driving a car or a boat in a FPS. Those turn me off big time. Finally show the insertion and extraction process, they could make it a cut scene.

I'm tired of shooters in general. WWII, Modern, Sci Fi...

Agree... get some variety. I'd love a good FPS with puzzle elements also.
And to add to your list get rid of escort missions. I despise them.

There's tons of WW(I and II) shooters. They're just all on PC.

I miss the slower paced tactical shooters like Rainbow 6: Raven Shield/Rogue Spear, Ghost Recon 1, SWAT 3/4...

Seems Bohemia is the only one really making these types of games any more. (and my pc couldn't even run Arma 2 well enough)

Love the various atmospheres of WWII games, hoping to get a couple great ones on next gen with full blown graphics.

                      Re: Anyone Miss WWII Shooters?

I would not mind a new WWII game on the next gen consoles. I think to this day my favorite call of duty is World at War. I am a huge history fan and love the world war time period, so maybe I am just a bit biased. I do think that the first person genre did get over saturated with world war II shooters but you don't see them at all much these days. I would prefer a World War II setting again in a game like COD which would make the multiplayer more simple and balanced rather than Black Ops2 which is set in the future and features things like target finders in the multiplayer.

                        Re: Anyone Miss WWII Shooters?

I love WWII as well and hope they go back there especially with the new consoles coming soon. I think Medal Of Honor could have faired better if they had went back to their WWII roots and instead of going modern. I think variety is key as well and I wouldn't want everyone going WWII. The thing I like about that era is the stories are more interesting and the settings either real or based on it. Plus the orchestral music made the games feel epic and emotional.

I miss them. COD WAW is one of my favorite shooters.

I wish we could see one every couple of years or so.

I almost wish one of the major players in the shooter games would start a three year cycle releasing one WWII or historic shooter every third year instead of just different "modern" shooters every year.

I never really got tired of them. Some of my best memories in video games came from aiming down a M1 Grand. But like others have said there needs to be a variety.
