    It is free isn't it?

Players will upgrade their multiplayer characters via blind booster packs of armour upgrades, bought via in-game coins.

    You'll accumulate this currency naturally,
but can pay for more with real-world money, Microsoft told Videogamer at Gamescom 2013 today.
So you can work/play for it and pay for it or pay for it and pay for it?

It's like how in Ultimate team modes, people can spend money instead of playing the game to boost their character instantly. Makes things really unbalanced early on. Unless Xbox's smart matchmaking isolates those players, it's going to be really annoying watching some guy just plow through everything early on because he paid extra for it.

Ahhh, I understood your complaint wrongly. I thought it was about paying. Yeah, I can see how what you say here could be an issue in terms of balance.

I'm kind of losing excitement after seeing those gamescon videos. The AI looks terrible, with some just standing there, waiting on you to slaughter them. That and the animations looks very jittery. I think it's also partly due to the camera angle and how it shifts around. The flow of the game just looks off to me.

That's a problem I see with a lot of games like this. After playing The Witcher recently, its become a bit of a bother to watch the AI do that in this, AC4, etc. Gotta do better in that regard.

I'm really sceptical about this game, the gameplay looks, for the lack of a better word, boring. I'll wait until this ends up dropping in price until I pick this up, I've got a feeling it is going to disappoint which would be a shame.

                    Re: Ryse: Son of Rome

The Combat System video gives the game more appeal for me, but I'm sort of losing interest because all it seems to be is this repetitive series of executions that aren't quite balanced.

In one instance the sword can cut an arm off, yet in the next sequence that same sword slices a soldier in the head and operates more like a club. It is also obvious that the AI is dumbed down some so that you can pull certain battle schemes off but it looks pretty bad, with soldiers just lingering there, instead of being more aggressive.

Ryse Digital Comics are available. Wonder how close these comics will be to the actual game story line...

#Ryse Hero Marius 85k polys? It was choice: 150k polys w LODs vs 85K + better shading + no LODs (stable). The latter wo at better quality!

As long as it is fun I'm still getting it. It will still be a great looking game. People are flipping out over this. From what I understand even Killzone for the PS4 will only be using 45k poly count for each character and the single player will be running at 30fps and yet it is a FANTASTIC looking game. This game will still be pushing 85k for individual characters so it should still look great. At this point I'm more concerned that this game be a fun overall experience for a first installment on X1.

People flip out over everything though. The fact is it looks better. The art is better and the backgrounds are now more fuller. It's a worthy tradeoff and tradeoffs will always need to be made on consoles. Graphics shouldn't be a concern with a Crytek game.
