FIFA 14 to come free with Xbox One? Gamescom announcement expected

Microsoft has turned to Electronic Arts in a bid to spark interest in Xbox One, MCV has been told.

At Gamescom tomorrow, an Xbox One/FIFA 14 tie-up will be announced in a bid to win over European gamers, according to two senior games industry sources. The bundle will still retail for £429.99, the same price as the Xbox One base unit.

The move is designed to make Xbox One appear better value for money as it currently retails for £80 more than PS4. FIFA 14 has an RRP of £54.99.

We checked with EA and Microsoft, who both said: 'no comment'. But we should know all the details tomorrow morning.

They will be releasing highlights of some sort from the showcase event they're putting on.

Yeah, sorry everyone. I made the same mistake of not putting down the source of the information over in the Xbox One thread.

The more I read about it, the more Microsoft seems to just want to focus on developers getting some time to show off their games, which is absolutely fine by me. It probably means we won't be getting a release date, though.

They will be releasing highlights of some sort from the showcase event they're putting on.

So no press conference of no streaming? Checking Twitter and gaming people are still talking about the time of the MS conference.

They don't have a presser. Instead they'll have a showcase with a quick media brief/presentation, and it'll be followed up with the press getting time with the developers.

I'm wondering if we will get next-gen Madden/NBA Live footage. Almost every other launch day title has released a good amount of gameplay, so I'd be surprised if EA held out much longer.

FWIW, EA does have a presser planned, and it is going to be streamed.

It's about perception though. I'm not amongst them, but there are people that are more excited for Xbox One. And maybe for those that are still undecided this helps sweeten the deal and their okay with paying a little more because they prefer Xbox. Ultimately, adding value isn't a bad thing.

Agreed. PS4 users with PS+ will be getting a free
Game (Driveclub) at launch as well.

Free games are always a good thing.

They announced they were showing it. What they will
Be showing is the bigger question.

They are showing the Sims 4 now. Not my cup of tea but it looks pretty decent.
