NES Classic River City Ransom getting a sequel-Kickstarter

After 23 years the beloved NES classic River City Ransom is getting an officially licensed sequel. River City Ransom: Underground will feature the same 8bit graphics and role play beat'em up gameplay that River City Ransom fans grew to love.

i'm massively excited for this! RCR was one of my favorite games ever. i loved hitting the different stores. hmmm...i'll get stone fists here, beat the crap out of a gang or two, and then i'll head over to the other place for sushi and hot cocoa. so much fun!

Yeah, the co-op on that game was legendary. It seems like I'm one of the few people (that I know in real life) that remembers that game, but man was it great. I too liked that you could go into the restaurants and order sushi (and the way your character would nod "yes" or "no" was awesome) and buy upgrades and stuff. Very ahead of its time.

Also, I always thought it was funny that the character models were the same guys as from "Super Dodgeball" - also an underrated classic. In retrospect, probably the same "engine", if that concept existed then.

Actually, it was the same developers if i remember correctly. they did "renegade" also. i dumped more of my dad's money into that game than i care to admit. the character models are iconic to me, though.

Loved "Renegade", but I'm not sure I ever got past the 2nd level (after the initial platform, when you get on the subway)...

I think both "Super Dodgeball" and "River City Ransom" were Tecnos, if I recall correctly? Great developer. I also love those character models.

Re: NES Classic River City Ransom getting a sequel-Kickstarter

We have hit the halfway mark. If you have not backed the game it only takes $15 to get a digital copy of the game. With the surge that always happens at the end of a Kickstarter campaign it should make but it needs all the support it can get.

Lets hope it gets a late buzz and reaches it's goal. One of the few kickstarter projects i want to see funded.

Can't wait. with an updated fighting engine and animator Justin Cyr should be a sleeper hit.

Nice! I'll wait for reviews and maybe get it later!

I don't really do Kickstarter. I can pay pretty much the same price at real release without any of the risk.
