FWIW. I have never once thought to myself "Man, I really want to visit Pittsburgh". I'm sure it is a nice area, I just don't think it would generate excitement.

I think you almost have to stick to true destination cities like NY, LA, Chicago, Miami, Vegas, London, etc.

I just don't know if I can handle a game loaded with accents if it is in London, but the city would be awesome. I do like some TV from the UK like Top Gear, so it may not be that bad.

Understanding rednecks like the ones Trevor is hanging out with isn't much easier for me.

But I really hope they make it an international game, I'd love to go from the States down to South America, then to Europe and so on... And considering what they did on the PS3, who says they can't pull if off on a far superior system?

Hawaii
Beautiful scenery, I'm having fun driving around LS but man, Hawaii is absolutely gorgeous.
They could go with 3 playable characters again, and it would easily work with the diverse population in the islands. They could roll with a local, Asian and an American tourist or something along those lines.
Crazy nightlife around the Wakiki/Honolulu area.
Giant military presence on Oahu.
Surfing competitions.
It snows 365 days a year on the Big Island, so you can ski and surf anytime.

I think the people Trevor hangs out with goes beyond rednecks. I know some redneck people and they are still normal functioning people who contribute to society by paying taxes and working a real J.O.B..

These people are just some ****ed up individuals from the desert... Lol

Maybe a Miami/Atlanta/DC combo. That, or Philadelphia/Baltimore/DC (or maybe Boston). Something with DC in it would be kind of cool is all.

One thing about GTA V... as much as I love the game and the size of the map, part of what made the other games (specifically San Andreas with the countryside) so great is that the middle ground was a segue to something greater, like a city. If GTA V was three times the size of what it is now, with all countryside in the middle and San Fierro and Las Venturas, holy ****!

Unfortunately, that time has now passed to do that for next-gen because they just did Los Santos, so now they can probably do something like that on the east coast.

Chicago is being done with Watch Dogs, so I don't know how quick they'll be to do that (even if it comes out six years from now). Detroit is still a possibility meanwhile, but not so appealing as a standalone. Maybe if they just stick north with Chicago/Detroit/Minneapolis, or somewhere in Michigan (to get them lakes in).

There's still lots of potential out there.

And folks, they're not leaving the US for the GTA franchise.

Chicago will never be done because the governor of IL and the mayor of Chicago won't allow it. They tried to do Chicago in the past for GTAIV and were denied. You just can't put places in games without that city and state permission.

Why would a company need consent from a state or city to put their city in a game IF it's not the actual name being used?

For example, in GTA it's not the LA Lakers, it's the LS Panic.
There's no Hollywood, but there's a Vinewood.

Likeness issues........ You can name it what ever you want to, but if it looks similar to the real thing, you can be sued, that is why they need permission. Chicago, like some other cities don't want their city associated with this series, for they feel it will hurt tourism and potential business investors.

I'm pretty sure if it was similar but different enough they'd be protected by fair use/parody laws.

The same reason public figures can't sue SNL or deny them the use of their name/likeness or something when they're parodied on that show.
